Edit 2026: We ended up trying 4 other dentists because the kiddo hated the flat table vs regular chairs.

And then the kiddo needed a tooth extraction and we tried a fifth place. In the end we came back to Dr. Nick and had a much better experience. They know how to help with anxious and neurodivergent kids and worked with me to practice desensitizing the kiddo at home by telling us what to expect clearly. They also did a better job offering options and explaining choices like silver diamine flouride and flouride gel.“

“Cant say enough nice things about Dr Cici and her office staff. I always dread going to the dentist but this time by the end of my appointment I almost don't want to leave ? The space is intentionally designed to make feel relaxed and comfortable. Dr. Cici is very skilled and gentle so the pain is virtually non-existent.“

“I started going to Dr. J. Cortese about 30 years ago. He healed me from my dental trauma from my childhood dentist. I have crowns that he put in that are 25+ years old and in good shape. “My first time at Laurel Smile Dentistry. My previous dentist cancelled me three times, and as 2025 ended on 31 December, Laurel Smile Dentistry took me in the same day. They were courteous and kind. I was able to get my teeth cleaned, rescheduled for a crown replacement, and referred to another service to treat an infection growing in the root of the tooth. They use state-of-the-art technology in this industry, and I am grateful to them for keeping my teeth and hygiene secure.“

At 72 years of age, I have many years of experience with dental offices and dentists.

This provider stands out for several reasons so I want to let others to know the reason I am recommending them.
1. They serve both HMO and PPO Delta Dental patients!

Many dentists will not accept HMO MEDICARE which often serves folks unable to pay higher premiums, because the HMO plan reimburses dentists at a lower rate. Unfortunately, the ones that do, in my experience, often pad their bills by adding procedures not coveted by insurance. These costs are passed onto patients as out of pocket costs. The providers often refused service unless I was willing to pay!
2. Cali care dentists offer the most current dental care practices which Delta refuses to cover. Fortunately, CALI Care will let you know which costs are not covered by insurance before they initiate the care.
3. The front desk is very knowledgeable and responds quickly via phone.
4. Their hygienists and dentists provide the most thorough deep cleaning!
6. You feel welcomed as soon as you enter the office; and feel you are amongst friends!

Every other DELTA HMO provider I DELTA’s Medicare HMO program (tried4) referred me to, with one exception, employed very deceptive practices designed to earn money for procedures not covered by the HMO Medicare plan. CALI-Care is different; they are honest brokers whose owners are onsite and seem to have their patient’s best interests as their primary goal. Kudos to them!”“

“Update: the payment issue was resolved.

I went for a cleaning procedure in September. The procedure itself went fine.

Before the procedure, I was told that my insurance covers the entire cost of the procedure. However, after the procedure, I was told I need to pay the entire fee since my insurance doesn’t cover it.“

“Aloha Dentistry is an AMAZING office for children who have some dental fears. We switched to this office after my son experienced a lot of anxiety at his last office. Dr. Ameneh just has the best bedside manner, and all the staff is so welcoming and accommodating in helping to calm the patients. Even though they don't take Delta Dental and I pay out of pocket, the costs are not unreasonable, and they work with Delta to get you reimbursed. 10 stars, definitely recommend!“

“A really wonderful dentist. I drive all the way to Berkeley from Sacramento to see them. I have a rare medical condition that has specific implications for dental health. They've been accommodating and proactive -- doing research where necessary to make sure that I'm getting the best care possible. I've also never had an attempt to upsell cosmetic work here; no discussion of whitening or veneers, both of which I had every dentist mention every single visit the whole time I lived in Los Angeles. Do I have to bill back to insurance? Yes. Have I ever had a problem with that? No. Ultimately, billing back to insurance (as others have mentioned in their reviews) is a very small tradeoff for me when compared with having a dental team that I trust.“

“Another comfy visit to KDAA. They are very thorough and usually identify a new cavity, or a filling that needs to be replaced, or an area that needs improvement. After years of guidance, most of my problems -- gums and back teeth -- have cleared up. They are excellent at tracking challenges from visit to visit, so they are very familiar with the terrain. Unfortunately, all new challenges are mine to prevent.“

“My overall experience as a patient at Itani Dental is nothing short of exceptional. I have had anxiety going to the dentist since childhood but Dr. Itani and his team have been instrumental in making me feel comfortable and at ease from when I first came in for consultation at the beginning of this year to now. They worked with me and accommodated my request from the get-go (within reason) which gave me the confidence to finally go through the procedure... a major oral surgery for implants on both the upper and lower arches which I kept putting off for years. This process requires a lot of visits and time in between for gums and implants to heal. I will be receiving my permanent implants in a few weeks and I couldn't be more excited. My oral health is back in tip top shape, I can enjoy eating my favorite foods, and yes you guessed it... I can smile again with confidence. Thank you, Itani Dental team... you guys are the best!
