“They estimated 2-4 hours, but I saw the doctor in less than 2. The doctor was kind. They took care of me and my dog. It was totally chaotic in the lobby when I first arrived, and everyone in front of the office was very professional. They did not oversell me on services and were clear on the estimate before proceeding with diagnostic procedures. It was expensive compared to a regular vet, but exactly what I expected from an emergency vet, reasonable for what it is.“

“If you own a horse, you know they can be expensive. It's not only food and boarding and equipment, they occasionally need medical care. If you are a pro-active horse owner, you can sometimes head off major medical expenses with preventive care. We use Bakersfield Large Animal Hospital for all our needs. There are three vets in residence and they are all very good. Dr. John Tolley is the head vet and heads the staff. Dr. Gonzales has the second longest tenure. He is very conscientious and great with the horses. Dr. Ordonez-Jones is the newest addition. He speaks Spanish. He graduated from Davis and came to Bakersfield. Every other year we take our horses in for dental work. Dr. Tolley did the horse's teeth this year. They use mechanical tools to get the teeth just right. (Horse's teeth grow throughout their life and have to be "shaped" on a regular basis). We like using Bakersfield Large Animal Hospital because all the doctors there are willing to talk to us, answer all our questions, and give alternative treatment programs. They also talk to each other. They will discuss cases and try to come up with the best diagnosis and treatments. When you're dealing with veterinary care, I consider this VERY important. The rest of the staff - Rudy, Katherine, and the others - are very good at handling the horses and keep things running smoothly. Bakersfield Large Animal is on Taft Hwy. They have a full service equine vet hospital.“

“A friend referred me to Dr. Thurman and team and I cannot thank her enough. I recently took the first of two cats for an annual exam and introduction. I immediately felt "at home" from the moment I walked in. I also appreciated not having to wait an extensive time; I feel like they schedule appropriately to see the animals (and their humans) in a timely manner.
Upon my first call, the office was not accepting new clients. While disappointed, I admired that they did not over schedule themselves. I have since been able to secure a spot thankfully.
