Whether it be the calming yet friendly demeanor ofJosie, or the bubbly yet humble atttide of Antonella, one things for sure — you know you’re taken care of and are in a good place. Both are skilled at their jobs and I feel comfortable when dealing with my hair now. They saved me from looking like a caveman and from scaring off potential employers because of my hagrid-like appearance. Thanks“

“Sulema (the owner of Dutch Door Hair Salon) has been cutting and coloring my hair for years. She is phenomenal! At different points she has done full color, balayage, and highlights and her work is always flawless. She has an impeccable eye for color and style and while she is able to thoroughly enact a client's vision, she also has wonderful stylistic recommendations if asked. The quality of her work stands all on its own, but it's worth pointing out that she is also a truly lovely person through and through. She has a very calm presence, displays genuine care and curiosity, and has depth of compassion and perspective. When you're spending hours at a time with the person coloring your hair, it's meaningful to genuinely enjoy connecting with them. Just be aware that Sulema is understandably sought out and booked for months -- be sure to plan your appointments with her well in advance!

Also of note, Sulema has curated a beautiful, intimate, peaceful space in Dutch Door Hair Salon. It does not have the intense, heightened energy often found in larger salons. It is calming and relaxing. I drive from South Orange County to see Sulema, and it is well worth it. I've referred several friends and family members to her, and they have all been making the trek out to Sulema for years as well. She is a true gem!“

“I’ve been to Shavvy since she opened and I ONLY go to her now. She cuts both my hair and does my eyelashes. For the haircut, she is so so good at cutting your hair based off of your face shape. I always just tell her to do whatever she thinks looks good because I know I can definitely trust her. As for the eyelashes, they stay on for SO long due to the process she uses. The first time I brought in a picture of the length I wanted. After she washed my hair,she made me look just like the picture I had shown her. Lupe pays attention to detail and doesn't rush. She was able to cut my hair exactly how I like it, which is a 1 mid fade to a semi fohawk scissor cut-up top. Couldn't find a barber to shape my hair correctly, but she did it.

I can tell she's very passionate about cutting hair and loves what she does. There's a sense of peace that I feel when I'm there and is not a high stress environment like some barbershops/salons.

The hair salon is also very clean and the prices are family friendly. You also have to make an appointment.
