Where do I even really start?
I’ve been seeing Victor for nearly two years now, after what felt like a long (and honestly painful) search for the right barber. What started as a setback—needing to find someone new—turned out to be a blessing. Finding Victor completely reset my expectations of what a haircut should be.
I’m a professional in the Milwaukee area, and in my line of work, presentation matters. A haircut isn’t just maintenance—it’s an integral part of how I present myself to the people I interact with daily and to the general public. I wasn’t just looking for someone who could cut hair; I was looking for someone who understands that level of detail and intention. Victor is Him.
From the first appointment, he sets the tone. He asks for reference photos—ideally of your own hair when you liked it best, or something similar to your hair type. It sounds simple, but it immediately makes the process more precise and collaborative. The more detail, the better. Since then, every cut has been consistent and thoughtful. My hair grows in multiple directions, and over time he’s taken the time to understand that and adjust accordingly. That level of attention and commitment is rare.
He’s also adaptable. We’ve shifted styles over time—from a high top with a full beard to what I have now: a 1.5 on top (against the grain) with a mid fade into a 1.5 beard, clean lineup, no enhancements. Victor is detailed—he explains what he’s doing as he goes. Even better, he’s helped with aftercare—recommending products, shampoos, and routines that have genuinely improved the texture, softness, and overall health of my hair. It’s made a noticeable difference.
The experience itself is just as dialed in. The work is technical, but the environment is easy—good conversation when I want it, quiet when I don’t. The shop has great energy too. The other barbers are clearly high-level from the cuts I see while I’m there. NKG is just a high-quality shop, period.
Not everything is for everyone. If you just want a quick cut and to move on with your day, he can do that—but it’s probably not the best use of his skill set. If you value detail, consistency, and building a relationship with someone who plays a role in how you present yourself, Victor is Him. Trust me—you (and the people in your life) will notice the difference.
