“My mailbox was broken into. Called Howard & he answered & said he could come out the next morning. There he was, right on time. Took one look at the mailbox & said he wasn't going to charge the service fee, that I should take that money & buy a new mailbox. This one was flimsy & not worth the money to fix.If you look at the previous reviews, you'll see time & time again how many people call him honest and thorough. Not many businesses operate with this kind of ethical standard and it is so so refreshing and incredibly rare. Even though I wasn't a paying customer this time around, I had been thinking about replacing another lock in my house and he's won me over as a customer. I'm calling him back to get that project and any future ones.“

“I recently had the 100+ year old mortise lock on my front door seize up on me and I needed to drill out the core. Afterwards, I tried to tinker with the lock a bit and in my naivete I managed to damage it such that the deadbolt couldn't move. The next day, I brought the lock down to Bergman's hoping that they could repair it. I really wanted to avoid retrofitting a more modern mortise lock (and likely drill more holes in my door). And I really didn't want to replace the door either, as it is pretty unique. Bergman's not only was able to repair the lock, but they actually seemed excited to work on it! They fixed it up faster than they had initially quoted and did a great job at cleaning the lock of its ancient grease. They were super friendly and were happy to talk to me about some of the questions I had. They genuinely seem to enjoy their work and locks. They set me up with a new cylinder (they even found one that matched the patinaed brass hardware without me asking) and made extra key copies for me too. I just reinstalled the lock and it is working great! I plan to only use them going forward. Thanks Bergman's!“
