“It is so nice to find a veterinarian that is a.... Veterinarian. Just as It's hard to find a doctor for your own needs that isn't pushing the newest medication or too busy to see you for a week, sometimes months? We were lucky to be introduced to the Abrams Royal Animal Clinic through my father who has 3 bird dogs in the Lake Highlands area. And though we are over in Lakewood? We have found that it's worth the drive. It is a small vet location with a competent and patient staff that is not over worked or forced to try and upsell you. So the overall visit is always pleasant. A typical pre physical examination of your pet and tell you if they see anything and when the doctor comes in he'll look again. The ask you what the issue is and if it's not an issue? it's not an issue. He's not going to say well okay let's keep him/her here overnight blah blah . He explains that certain breeds do this in certain cats have issues or habits not to concern you. He's seen it before and it's not anything to worry about. If you have a serious issue? they will definitely treat it immediately and tell you up front what it might cost and how much they're willing to knock off if you're strapped for cash or money. It's not a charity, it's just that they care. There's no wait usually and you can bring your animal in that day. Call of course but wow... and they are also open on weekends. (may not say that on Google maps, but give them a call). I am always shocked that I'm paying probably half of what I expected and not charged for things that are routine. The location is clean and small and I'm sure that helps keep their prices down. But I can assure you that the vet has been doing this for decades to the point of being able to reminisce of stories from decades ago. I guess what I'm describing is a true veterinarian. There aren't many vets that run their office like they used to. With all the attempts to upsell you? The Vet is a man with decades of experience. He's seen it all. He does diagnosis instead of testing unless necessary. If you are worried about something and it turns out to be nothing? You can expect the bill to reflect that. This location and doctor is like a "time capsule" of how vets used to be.“

“We got a puppy recently and this place was highly recommended , I loved it.Didn’t bring my kiddos the first time because wasn’t sure if I could and what would they do while we were waiting etc.Waiting time was not much, they send you to this very clean room where the nurse and the the vet meet you .They do have a kids corner and they offer you a drink .Not what I was expecting from a Vet’s visit.Exceeded my expectations . Glad we found a place to call our home for our furry baby .“
“Our 17-week-old puppy broke his elbow and needed surgery. Our vet referred us to DVSC and it was a wonderful experience for us and our pup. They scheduled the surgery very promptly. The Dr met with us, as did the tech and walked us through why surgery was the right option, but also provided info about what we could do if we opted to not do surgery. We really appreciated the extra time they took to explain everything and also how they schedule surgeries so that your pup doesn't have to do an overnight stay unless absolutely necessary. We brought our little guy in at 8:30a and he was back home recovering with us at 3:45p. They also are very responsive to follow-up questions. We are thankful for this excellent medical team and their care for pets and owners! Thank you, DVSC! George is doing well and says "thank you for making a 'ruff' time a lot easier!"“

“I've been meaning to post this review for quite sometime now, but I needed some time to process the difficult moments that Dr. Smallwood and her team helped me through. Even after more than a year, writing this isn't easy for me.My pup (Aurora) was the center of my universe in ways I can't even begin to describe. So I always looked for the very best care for her no matter how small or big the issue was. This was especially important when she was suddenly diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer only three years after she came into my life. Absolutely devastating!Although I live in Houston, Dr. Smallwood helped me over the phone and messaging to guide me through the process of helping my best friend be as comfortable as possible in her final moments with me. Even when Dr. Smallwood was on vacation with her family, she took the time to answer my questions. She went to lengths to help me far beyond what local vets were willing to. Best of all, there was a strong emphasis on natural medicine that was far more effective than the pharmaceutical methods that often caused side undesirable side effects. Dr. Smallwood took time to explain the science behind all of her recommendations, and the results were immediately apparent! The moment I started implementing her methods, Aurora snapped back to nearly her normal energetic self. “I have never had a bad experience at High Point. The entire staff is wonderful. All the Vets are kind and are obviously in their professions for the love of the animals. I have been to some terrible vets. I have had horrific vet experiences. I have lost pets to poor veterinary care and vets who just wanted to be paid (like wouldnt treat my dying animal until AFTER i paid them..). For years I had some sort of vet ptsd and I just wouldn't ever take my animals to a vet unless I needed to. This place ROCKS. If you are looking for a vet look no further. This is where you want to be.“
