About Freeport-Mcmoran Copper & Gold
Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold offers a unique experience for drivers with its 24-hour receiving for copper plates. While some reviews mention long unloading times and a few operational inefficiencies, many drivers appreciate the skilled forklift operators, particularly noting the excellent service from team members like Allen and George. The crew is often described as friendly and helpful, creating a generally positive atmosphere. However, drivers should be prepared for various requirements, including safety gear and multiple forms of ID, which some find cumbersome but understandable given past issues with copper theft. The facility has a small driveway between large tanks and a guard shack, requiring patience during the process. Local drivers receive preference in loading, which some drivers feel should be more equitable. Overall, while there may be a few challenges, many drivers find the experience smooth when they follow the rules and stay calm.
Small drive way between big white tanks, 2nd Guard shack/container, trailer 10 years or younger, 2 forms of ID, fill out all highlighted, I made a mistake and had to fill out a new one.
Allen and George are amazing workers really most the forklift operators are outstanding they go over and beyond. In all my years of dealing with the El Paso crew they have been astronomical. I recently had an injury and they make my life easy. Thank you from the bottom of my hart.
They give local drivers preference over OTR drivers when loading. They should just keep it to first come first served. It's bad enough that we have to compete with the B1 drivers that take loads to brokers down to Laredo instead of taking them to Mexico like they should. Someone needs to start looking into all the companies that have B1 drivers but never go to Mexico.
