Well, I definitely wouldn't recommend this spa for anything other than my masseuse was amazing. The spa service had hidden charges. I reserved a 50 minute CBD massage for $230 which is already pretty pricey for 50 minutes. My neck and back were killing me and I figured I could treat myself. I arrived 45 minutes early so I could enjoy the spa for a little bit before my 5pm appointment. I waited over 10 minutes for the person at the desk to even walk out. I even called the front desk prior to that hoping someone would show up. Finally she came and took me to the back. She upsold me on a $40 sheet mask "facial". I was then asked if I could start my service early. I agreed meaning I didn't have time at this point to use any amenities. Again, the masseuse was amazing so at the end of the service I didn't mind. However; when I go to pay I learn I'm being charged almost a $50 technician fee and my total with tip is over $400!!!! And, the same girl who took almost 15 minutes to show up at the front charged me incorrectly (charging almost $550) and had to call a manager. I had to wait for the manager to come up sat there as they tried to figure it out, void my original transaction, and re charge me. While I was waiting she told me to try the products and tried to poorly sell me the sheet mask that was used lol ..... really?!?! If it wasn't for the masseuse herself being amazing I think I would have lost it at that point. I don't recommend the spa or staff by itself. Way over priced... AND Very poor service. I hope the masseuse goes out on her own as I would book her in a hot second. I just want to level set expectations if you visit. I understand why this spa is only given 3 stars on Yelp. For someone who works their ass off, and rarely gets time for herself like me, you want these rare spa moments to live up to what you hope for. W hotel - Away Spa - you need new management and a focus on the total experience. There's a reason why your ratings are low and I'm guessing business is not what it could be.
Booked over $500 in spa packages for my birthday, and the experience ws subpar. The amenities were nice--steam shower, locker room amenities, robe, etc. Staff, lacking. I told my masseuse the areas I wanted her to focus on for my 2-hour massage. Around 1.5hrs through when I realized she didn't address my areas as requested, I asked if she was going to go back and expressed I needed extra attention in those areas, and I felt she got an attitude with me asking, and applied unnecessary pressure, resulting in me being sore in those areas for days afterwards. I even said "OW" as she did it, and she didn't acknowledge me or apologize. I hate that they automatically added gratuity because I was very unhappy. Then for my facial. The tech asked me what my concerns were, I told her, she wrote them down, and then did my facial. 1 hour later I was done. I didn't get any guidance or advice on how to keep addressing those issues, I don't know what products were used on my face, and I wasn't even upsold to purchase the items used. What was the point of the "consultation" if I don't get any feedback?? Weird. They did sign a birthday card for me and gave me a bag with some goodies. And the amenities were nice, but the service was terrible. For a big milestone birthday, I wish I would've treated myself somewhere else.
I cannot say enough good things about this place, the locker room is beautiful so relaxing and has everything you could need. Paul is a magician with his hands and such a sweet soul. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself now!
