About Austin VA Clinic

Austin VA Clinic is a clean facility with helpful staff who treat patients with respect. Many patients report positive experiences with communication, including quick follow-up appointments and direct email with doctors. The clinic offers various services such as primary care, chiropractic care, optometry (vision care), dentistry, oncology, podiatry (foot care), and treatment for traumatic brain injuries (TBI). It is a modern, stand-alone multispecialty center that many veterans find more advanced than other clinics, with little waiting time and a supportive registration area. The clinic has plenty of parking, including numerous designated spots for disabled veterans. In fact, there are over 100 handicap parking spaces available, which many appreciate. It also features a small shop selling veteran items and some food onsite. While the clinic is well-regarded, it does not provide all services; for example, cardiac pacemaker checkups and cataract surgery are available at the Temple location. Although there can be wait times for lab services, most patients find the staff to be friendly and informative. Some staff turnover among primary care physicians has been noted, and there have been concerns about attitudes from a few staff members. Overall, patients appreciate the modern facilities and cleanliness, describing it as a signature veterans healthcare operation that delivers excellent service. Despite some areas for improvement, most patients highly recommend the clinic to veterans in the Austin area.

This was the first time that I used a VA Dental Clinic and I was very pleasantly surprised.

I went to the VA dental sick call on Thursday around 1300 hours and the receptionist Mickel Lake was really nice and explained that dental sick call was from 0800 to 1000 and would be opened on Friday and would not open again until Tuesday because of the holiday.

I went to dental sick call on Friday at 0800 hours and saw receptionist Mickel Lake again. He was very helpful and friendly.

I waited maybe 10 minutes before I was called back. I didn’t get the dental tech’s name she was very thorough and friendly.

I was seen by the DDS Jennifer Burcin and...read full review

This is a super nice VA facility. I've relocated from Indiana to Austin and they have taken such good care of me since I've been here. They got me right in when I needed to get medicines that I was out of. They let me see a doctor when I needed to. They even help me get paperwork together for the state of Texas that's required for me for being handicapped. It's a wonderful VA clinic. I highly recommend it to any vet and the people. There are absolutely wonderful. I would like to add that this Austin VA clinic has so many handicap parking spaces available for us veterans. I have never seen so many handicap parking spaces at a VA clinic or hospital in my life and I've been...read full review

I have been going here for about 9 years. I still go for my primary and RA. Drs even after moving 150 miles away near Palestine due to better Drs. I can't get an appt. for a new problem for a month or so but can go to any VA emergency rm. or several urgent/em. care centers in the nearby community. I get labs in Palestine and community care for dental and other procedures at Athens, BCS etc.. I kinda live in the woods. VA pays for travel pay so I feel blessed that though it is a bit of a hassle sometimes, I still have free healthcare and meds that could cost thousands a month. Last week I had an ignorant golf cart driver refuse to take my service dog as well as myself...read full review
