2711 Alpine Rd #100, Columbia“First off, this review is well overdue and I sincerely apologize. I am having a very difficult time getting over my best friends (George) passing. The one year anniversary of George’s death was February 13th.
I was working in Columbia on a healthcare contract. My actual home is in Ohio, not Columbia. At the time of George’s passing, I was really sick in bed with covid but needed to report to work the following day. I knew I had to find a pet cremation service so I’d be able to bring George home with me. It was such an effort trying to Google pet cremation as I was so sick and some individuals at other businesses were rude and didn’t seem to give a damn.
I stumbled upon “Faithful Companion” and I am grateful I found them while searching. The woman I spoke to sympathized with me and was so kind when I explained my situation. She was so patient (I was in extreme distress being as sick as I was and then losing my best friend unexpectedly). She explained what my options were. She arranged for George to be picked up at my rental home and returned as well. I did not know when he would be “returned” to me. I paid extra for the transportation but my pets are my kids.
Lo and behold, later that afternoon, we had a knock on our door. It was a gentleman that was returning George’s ashes. I only waited a few hours when I thought it would be days before he was returned.
The entire encounter with Faithful Companion in Columbia SC was so terrific and classy. I cannot say enough about them. From my first phone call, to the woman actually picking George up, to the gentleman returning him, was phenomenal. Everyone was so caring, compassionate and KIND! A rarity in this day and age.
George’s ashes are in a gorgeous solid wood box with a sealed certificate of cremation etc on the bottom. He arrived in this beautiful Faithful Companion bag. Inside was a large laminate of the Rainbow Bridge that could be used as a bookmark, along with a beautiful sympathy card, a beautiful brochure showing their facility and services offered, plus a pretty large booklet “Petcloud’s Grief Support Guide” “which includes information and tools to support you after you’ve lost a beloved pet.” This booklet will be one that I read and read all over again it’s so beautifully done.
I cannot thank the individuals enough in Columbia SC that took such great care of me as well as George. I highly recommend them to anyone. I will be forever grateful to them and I hope they read this since my contract is over and I am back home.
To end this….here is a pic of my 4-legged fur baby George. I miss him every second of every day but I’m positive we will meet again at the Rainbow Bridge.“
“Leevys handled the service for my uncle and I highly recommend them. Chris Leevy took extraordinary care of my family during our time of loss and made the experience so much easier. In a time of grieving it is a gift to have someone anointed to guide you through this difficult process. Chris was thorough, kind, and professional. We utilized Leevy's chapel and the staff took great care of our family as well. Do not hesitate to allow Leevy's to care for your family and loved ones in a time of need.“

“It’s taken me a few weeks to find the right words, but I want to sincerely thank Grace, Bobby, and the entire team at Shives Funeral Home. They took exceptional care of our family during one of the most difficult times in our lives. Their compassion, attention to detail, and willingness to accommodate every need made the process of saying goodbye to my mom far less stressful. We’re deeply grateful for their support and kindness.“
