1220 E Tallmadge Ave, Akron“My son has been attending classes here since late April 2025 (currently late July 2025) and I have nothing but positive things to say about our experience here. My son started about 1 month after turning 4 so listening skills and things like that were kind of rough. He also is an only child and doesn’t get around a lot of other kids so it has been an adjustment getting used to the schedule. The teachers/staff and other members (parents and kiddos) have been so supportive, kind and have really taken the time to make sure he isn’t left out or left behind. I was worried he wouldn’t fit in but it feels like we are part of a team when we come in to each class. I also really like the atmosphere and the family culture within the academy. I couldn’t imagine taking my son anywhere else and am so grateful we have found you guys. After several weeks of classes my 4 year old has progressed to his yellow stripe belt and has a confidence about him that I wasn’t sure we would ever see. We look forward to coming twice a week and for us homebodies, that is a huge testament to how AMAZING this place is! THANK YOU THANK YOU highly recommend.“
5AM - 8PM
739 N Main St, Akron“I had the honor and privilege to train at the American Karate Academy for over a decade. There is, in my opinion, no better and more legitimate martial arts Academy in the city, and it is one of the best in the state. Hanshi Lee Harris teaches children and adults, in all areas of the arts, from self defense to traditional karate to physical fitness. He has experience with handi-capable students (because a handicap is just another thing to be overcome) as well as attention disorders and physical therapy. I would give this school ten stars if I could, and the highest regards imaginable. If you choose to study or train at AKA, you will leave a better person after a challenging and ultimately fulfilling experience.“
“Mr.Kiraly provides phenomenal instruction and is completely dedicated to providing traditional forms of swordsmanship. Absolutely the best place to learn European fencing and Japanese iadio and kendo.“

“The whole team here is amazing. They really care about every individual student. Have seen amazing progress in our child in just over three months of taking classes. World class instruction and knowledge plus multiple black belt students who also assist with classes.“
