He was professional, relaxed, and an excellent listener who was able to see one picture and recreate it almost perfectly (and arguably improve it!). He also explained some features of my specific hair (tendency to stick up, areas to pay attention to. etc.,) and recommended a great product without pushing or selling it.<br><br>It’s pricier than the Chinese salons surrounding it, but worth every penny to me. I was rushing to a wedding, the shop had just changed management, and (still being honest) I've had bad experiences when someone is less experienced with "ethnic"/black/African American hair. “I was one of the first customers when this shop opened 10 years ago, and it's as worthy of the 5 star review now as it was then. The quality continues to be top notch. I no longer live in NYC but often make a trip just for a cut. I typically see Sam, but have gotten cuts from everyone. I no longer need to tell them what I want done, they just know. The free shots are still a nice touch, and the hot towel wrap at the end is the icing on the cake. Prices have gone up from their original $15, but at only $33 these days, still a better deal than anywhere else I've been. Love these guys.“
