“Writing this review for both myself and Lucca ( my fur child), we cannot thank Joseph with K9 Starr training enough. He not only brings a great vast understanding of dog's mindset, behavior, and progression, Joseph is patient, honest and very eager to solve any issues you bring him regarding your four-legged friend.

Lucca, my fur pal, is 6yr old 70 lbs rescue presented with severe reactivity and obedience issues that grew worse and worse with his age. Before training with Joseph, Lucca and I's walks would be bring us both a lot of anxiety not knowing if Lucca would completely loose his mind, barking with force and pulling in any dog's direction. The breaking point occurred in line at a coffee shop. Lucca saw a fellow dog in line and freaked out and in the process of reeling him back in/ calming him down - I broke my finger - then needing surgery.

Joseph broke down the training basics and obedience skills not only instructing and training Lucca, but myself , as a dog owner as well. With constant practice and communication with Joseph over our 3 training sessions, Lucca has 180 'ed his behavior. His obedience is at a level I honestly never thought I would ever reach with Lucca. Lucca and I walks have become more enjoyable and less stressful for the both of us. We have frequented the same coffee shop where the finger incident occurred- and Lucca is able to sit my side while I drink a large cup of coffee- totally calm and unreactive towards dog and people!! -Truly amazing!

As dog parents- of course we love our fur children unconditionally, but with this training and unlocked new Happier relationship with Lucca - we are able to enjoy our company together so much more as owner and best fur pal.

“Kramer’s daycare evaluation “audition” at 33 Bond was only a few hours, but he seemed to have a great time! He enjoyed meeting new friends and had lots of fun playing with them. As his hooman, it’s just as important that I feel good about leaving my boy in a new place and the staff made me feel comfortable and confident that he was in good hands. The space has a good vibe and although we don’t currently have a need for daily daycare, we look forward to returning as a recurring guest!“

From the moment I first spoke with Elizabeth, the owner, I knew we had found the right place to support us after bringing home our American Shepherd puppy, Ruby. In that very first phone conversation, Elizabeth could hear the uneasiness in my voice. I was feeling overwhelmed and stressed about doing everything right to raise our puppy well and give her a great life. Elizabeth immediately put me at ease with her calm, thoughtful approach and clear depth of experience.

Since then, The Dog Institute has been an incredible resource for us. Ruby attends Play & Train regularly, and it’s easily her favorite thing in the world. The sessions are practical, approachable, and incredibly effective. Ruby soaked up her early lessons and quickly grew into a confident, well-behaved puppy thanks to Elizabeth’s guidance.

“Biscuit and baths at Yorkville Is Cooper’s favorite place. He loves Gianna and Ashley so much that in the mornings when I’m leaving the home and getting him into the car, he knows where he is going. Gianna shows so much love to Cooper and I’m sure that she is like that with all of the Dogs that she works with. In the mornings, when Cooper sees Ashley he goes crazy, wagging his tail and jumping. He is always happy to see her. That tells me that they show love and really care about all the dogs that they are responsible for throughout the day.

“Instinct is the best!!! My dog is a regular here and I’m so, so glad I found it when we first adopted him. He’s done the board and train program, daycare and he regularly boards here while we’re away. Everyone is so good with him, knowledgeable and so friendly. I love that they do small matched playgroups, and are experts in dog behavioral health it makes such a difference. I honestly think him attending regular daycare here through adolescence made such a difference in his development and sociability - something I would not have been able to do on my own. And my dog absolutely loves it here. Every time we get here he can’t WAIT to go in, he doesn’t even look back at me when I drop him off. I know he’s in great hands and I trust them completely whether I leave him there for the day or for longer periods. Couldn’t recommend it more!!“

“Honestly, this place is lovely. I have been to many vets over the years and I have never felt as safe as I do here. They do not shame- my cat is overweight and they remained focused on a plan, not on making me feel like a bad pet parent. Whats even crazier is that my cats do not fear the carrier. While they will cry in the car once they are in the vet office they are calm. They come home relaxed. I think about all the trauma my other cats had at previous vets and it honestly breaks my heart knowing this was an option the whole time. VCG are profoundly lovely and caring people.“

“It was my first time at What’s Up Dog leaving my dogs for boarding while I give birth. I have been to many daycares and have never experienced such kindness and love from a daycare like What’s Up Dog. The staff is amazing and super understanding and accommodating! The boys were so happy and thrived, they sent us updates and were always on top of everything. I couldn’t imagine going into labor without the staff’s support and help. “We could not have asked for a better pet sitter! Nellie went above and beyond with all of our crazy requests (and we had a lot ?). She sent me SO many pictures and videos throughout her visits, which made me feel completely at ease while we were away. Communication was absolutely on point—super quick, clear, and thoughtful.

The best part? The night we came home, my two cats were literally sitting by the front door… waiting for HER. I was a tiny bit jealous (lol), but mostly just so happy knowing how loved and cared for they were. ? She truly treated them like her own.

“I had an amazing experience working with Deanne, and I can’t recommend her highly enough. When we first started, my puppy was struggling with separation anxiety, barking, and some challenges on walks (such as eating non-food items). Deanne created a clear, personalized plan that helped us address each issue step by step.

Deanne taught my puppy basic commands (sit, down, stay, etc.), no jumping when greeting people, walking calmly on leash, introduced him to the dog run in a safe and positive way, and gave me the tools to manage and greatly reduce barking that used to happen throughout the day.

What I appreciated most was how patient, knowledgeable, and supportive Deanne was. She not only helped my puppy but also helped me understand how to reinforce good habits and maintain consistency at home.
