“Scared to have my hair cut, as the last few times have left me in the care of women who'd chop off 10 inches (over a foot at one point) of my hair, instead of the trim or 4 inches i'd ask for. This was such a positive experience for me that i booked an appointment for my daughter as well! I got the simple long layers i asked for since i didnt want the length gone, but i needed more volume & was tired of long flat hair that i could only throw in a bun or a clip. I needed something different but not drastic & i my needs were met! I appreciate being seen by someone who didnt try to take my hair from just above my waist to my shoulder blades again & was patient w/ my nervousness. “I love this place! I see Malyn for my hair cuts and color and she nails it every time. Actually, to be totally honest, in my 33 years its the best hair cuts that I've ever consistently gotten. The vibe is really casual/relaxed/friendly, while still being clean and of high quality. They have a nail lady who does really cute designs (I haven't had her services yet but I plan to)! I'm from a big city and have been to all sorts of salons that feel overly boogie, expensive, and impersonal. This place feels like your mama's salon and its awesome.“

“Best kept secret in the Carson Valley! Melissa has been coloring and cutting my hair for 3 years. I was referred to her by another salon who didn't have availability. I'm used to driving to Truckee and paying for high end salons. I needed to find someone closer but it was one disaster after the next. Well I hit the jack pot when I found this place! The salon wasn't near as fancy but the service has always been as good as it gets. Melissa used to work at a high end salon in Union Square in SF. She was trained by the best. Prices very reasonable too!“

“I have been getting my haircut from Mike for about 12 years now. I followed him over from another company when he opened Cutting Edge. He has also been cutting my son’s hair since his first haircut. I really realized how great Mike was when I once took my son to another salon when I was in a pinch and had to get him a haircut before I left town. The salon was closed that day. The next time I took my son to Mike, he realized someone else had cut his hair and even showed me all the sloppy mistakes from the other hair stylist!
