Highly recommended. Actually, the only barber/stylist I recommend, for guys and girls alike. Vincent is one of the best barbers I’ve encountered, and definitely a hidden gem of STL. I’ve had $150 haircuts that aren’t as good as his. We always have a good laugh and some great conversation (as long as I don’t fall asleep in my chair lol!!!) This is a great opportunity to support small business as well, which we sorely need more of.
Why? Because he’s highly skilled, attentive, interested in providing only perfection, and he listens. He takes great pride in his creations. He stops to explain what he’s doing when asked specifics, and is eager to answer any questions with detailed info that makes sense. He uses the best tools of his trade, and he doesn’t push products or packages. He actually personally returns your call if you leave a message, or he also texts if you prefer. It’s also wonderful to have a wash and scalp message included! So relaxing. I’m super picky about my hair, and I’d rather wait until I can see him than go to anyone else. He’s that good in my opinion.
As a man, I'm usually limited to places like Great Clips, Sport Clips, Hair Saloon, etc., where if you’re ever lucky enough to get the exact haircut you desire (very rare), the stylist who did it probably won’t be there next time. Skilled stylists quickly learn that they can earn far more elsewhere, so it only makes sense for them to move upward to a salon that values them as more than a person with scissors that can fill a time slot.
I can’t speak on the other stylists, but girls whom I’ve referred to Cut It Up have been surprised and quite pleased. I don’t know about children's prices.
Lastly, he has a great collection of offerings as far as jewelry goes. I’ve bought a handful of rings and earrings on a couple holidays and special occasions for people, and they’re always excited to wear it, and eventually ask where I found it. Although he does carry some higher end precious metal and stone pieces, and is able to source them if asked, he mainly has what can be thought of as high quality costume jewelry, which is way more fun. Since the days of daily wear jewelry being solid gold are long gone (for most of us) in favor of being able to switch up your look daily while not breaking the bank, this is a great place to count on. Instead of birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays, I can pick up a few pieces “just because”, and those are always the best gifts in my book!
5 stars across the board.
