“I have been out of the AF for 27 years. I signed up for the VA a year or 2 after I got out. Didn't really use it til 2011 when I turned 40 for routine physicals.

However in the last year I went to the emergency room and I was diagnosed with Keratoconus which required me to have Schiliro contacts. Aside from paying for everything of the total bill to be fitted with contacts and supplies which I have been told is 3k - 5k I paid two 15 dollar copays. I have paid 8 dollars for the follow on supplies.

The VA has come a long way since 1999 when my understanding is you had to go to Minneapolis and if you had an emergency it was on you to what it is now.

I have always gotten in promptly when scheduled and they are very courteous and helpful. They return your phone calls and e-mails. The phone system is a little tedious but nothing is perfect. Thank you VA for taking care of me.“
