“I had dreaded the thought that I would have to pay someone to install a french drain, that it would be expensive. Then I stumbled on to the French Drain Man, that all I needed was their Buried Downspout Kit #10, that I could install it myself. Having never tackled such a project as this, it took a couple of days to dig the 20’ trench (didn’t need the 25’). My initial dig took an about 1 day, and then I thought I heard someone speaking Chinese below the bottom of the trench at the low point. I had overestimated the slope requirement, thinking it needed to be about 4%, only to realize it only needed to be about 1%. So, I spent another day redoing the trench. After that, it wasn’t too long before I had the parts installed. But before I covered the trench with the dirt I had dug out, I ran a test with the water from my outdoor hose, not wanting to wait until it rained enough to show me whether or not I messed up. Glad I did, because I had not properly secured the connection to the pop-up emitter, causing water to flood the trench at the low point. Fixed that and am now waiting for the next heavy rain to give me a thumbs up or a thumbs down.“
