9120 Gorman Rd, Laurel“My house had original aluminum siding from 1983, and I decided that it was time for improvements. I looked at 3 options: 1) repair/paint existing siding, 2) replace with vinyl siding, or 3) replace with Hardie plank. Obviously, repairing would have been the least expensive and Hardie plank the most expensive (at least so I thought). I procured seven estimates from different contractors on the various approaches with most providing an estimate on both vinyl and Hardie plank. In the end, I went with Able Construction and Hardie plank. Hardie plank installation does tend to be higher priced than vinyl but not exorbitantly. I found that there was quite a variation in the vinyl pricing based on quality of materials; some was priced even higher than the Hardie plank. The quote by Able Construction on Hardie plank was not the lowest estimate I received or the highest. It was in the middle. So why did I choose Able Construction? First, they absolutely sounded the most knowledgeable about the installation process. Second, their estimate was very thorough so there appeared to be little room for unforeseen charges. In my case, there was so rotten wood uncovered that needed replacing (costs $120), but I was told upfront that could be a possibly (and I saw the rotted wood prior to replacement). Most other estimates were vague and failed to address issues that Able Construction brought up during the “walk around” of my house during the estimation process. Also, note that there is a “James Hardie Contractor Alliance™ program that is designed to match homeowners with professional contractors who meet the highest quality of customer satisfaction and are trained on James Hardie installation best practices”, and Able Construction is one of those contractors (zip code 20708 in search). Finally, why did I choose Hardie plank over vinyl given mostly more expensive? First, I’ve had it before and believe it is a better material. Second, you can paint it at a later point in time if you want to change colors which is important to my wife (painting not necessary initially since it comes pre-painted). In the end, the finished product looks great, and I highly recommend Able Construction.“

11107 Halltown Rd, Laurel“Reliable Construction exceeded my expectations! I was so pleased with the final results: more beautiful than I had hoped for!
After obtaining 5 different estimates to add a porch onto the front of my house, I choose Reliable for two reasons: 1) A neighbor had hired them and gave positive feedback; 2) Very reasonably priced compared to others.
I was so pleased with the price, that I asked Kelvin if he could do more work on the house for me, and he agreed! I now have new insulated siding, a new roof, new gutters and a new front concrete sidewalk in addition to the wonderful porch that has electrical outlets and a lighted-ceiling fan! The fan makes all the difference!
What impressed me most was how Kelvin met all my needs, and made suggestions to improve on my plans. I really felt as though we we're a team! And then he surprised me with little extras like detailed crown molding, tying the new gutters into the existing underground release pipes and adding a few extra feet length on the sidewalk that really made a difference ! Some ground leveling and planting grass seed from where I had the tree removed was another nice surprise!
I would definitely hire Reliable Construction again!“

“Unlike another tile person I interviewed over the phone, before giving me an estimate Oscar Chavez came to my house to check all the details of my 88 year old tub and tiles. He patiently explained everything and respectfully answered all my questions. He and his son are a great team, and they really know their stuff. This is hard work but Oscar, Jr. kept at it, even doing extra work that was not in the contract. He was always very considerate and kind. The result is beautiful, like a new bathroom. I can't wait to show my neighbors, who also have old houses.“
