“I've been using Excel regularly for almost two years and they are consistently fast, professional, and affordable. I've never had an item lost or damaged. Mr. Choi does an excellent job with alterations, even some trickier items that I wouldn't trust to most cleaners.“

“I have had numerous items of clothing (mostly of the St. John design) altered at the Nordstrom Columbia store and usually done by alterations specialist Manly Tien. Her work is outstanding —whatever the change or modification required, she is able to complete it in a way that maintains the integrity of the design. Manly is not only a skilled seamstress, she is a wonderful human being. I think that we are most fortunate to have her at our Columbia store.Sincerely,Dorothy V HarrisServices: Women's clothing alterations“

“I found this family-owned business while searching for tailors and seamstresses close to me. Called first, because I needed a suit altered for celebration services happening in 48 hours. The added benefit is these close late, which was 7 p.m. After confirming the work would be done and picked up after five o'clock the following day, well within my 10 a.m. service time the following day; I went in and met a diminutive Asian man and his wife taking care of existing customers. After introductions the man simply pointed to the dressing room, which I immediately understood to don the suit and adjustments to the garment would begin upon reappearance."Suit sleeves too long," he said after a quick observation. My mind raced to the cost of the work to adjust the sleeves with having to move the workable buttons and the cost of "convenience?" Plus, Custom Tailor is located inside the Columbia Mall on the ground floor next to Kay Jewelers, across from the Brow Bar. The pants required a hem, which became a "full break." (Some people still wear cuffs, but this was a linen suit and cuffs would've been inappropriate and a little too formal). I also asked for brace buttons, or suspender buttons in lay terms. As we moved from one piece to another the tailor hand over to jacket and told his partner, "Sleeves, $70..." OK, I thought, $35 a sleeve is not bad, especially for a craftsman meeting my request to have it done in less than 24 hours. All together, the work was $118, no tax!The following, and I deliberately waited until after 5 p.m., when the work was promised. On my way to pick up the garment, I received a phone call from the little woman that my suit was ready. I told her I was a few blocks away, and she added, "It's been ready since 5!" Like a child being scolded by his mother I was left speechless as she reassured me everything was OK, confirming my soon to be arrival.Certainly, paying in advance may cause others to have trepidation or reluctance, but I was truly impressed with the work of the tailor. Because of aforementioned, I asked to try the suit on, but my query seemed to have struck a chord with the little woman, and I quickly balked at the notion with an allay that I can try it on at home. However, I would not have a chance for any corrections, but all fears were cast aside as the suit was beautifully pressed and all adjustments were seemless! In the end, I must share with you, that there was an elderly gentleman standing on the adjustment box as he and the tailor exchanged pleasantries. The tailor inquired of the customer, "How long have you been coming here?" Before the gentleman could respond the tailor responded to his own query, "Long-time customer"---as he kept working on his pant leg. Later, the gentleman waiting for his wife to redress after being fitted; "That's a nice suit!" Thanking him for the complement, I quipped, that perhaps the results would lead me to be a "long-time customer! He smiled, getting the inside reference and chuckled, "OK."Highly recommend Custom Tailor of Columbia. $$$“
