“When my dad passed away, our family had not made any prior arrangements. A close family friend highly recommended Burns-Kish Funeral Home to us after having an exceptional experience earlier this year. My mom went and spoke with Emily, who was able to accommodate, and setup a same day meeting with her. Emily was thorough going over the various packages Burns-Kish offered and was willing to work around and tailor the experience we all wanted. Emily was helpful with explaining next steps for what we needed to do and offered suggestions for a couple cemeteries. If you have something you wish your loved one to be buried with, they will accommodate. I provided the obituary and after it posted, I needed a quick revision. Within minutes, Emily had it updated! Emily also sent us a link to upload photos for the video slideshow they would be putting together. We didn’t get around to sending the photos over until the day before the funeral and weren’t sure what to expect. My dad loved classic rock and blues and didn’t really want the typical lowkey sentimental music a typical funeral home may play, so again, we spoke with Emily and she told us we could create our own playlist and then connect to their Bluetooth speaker.
The day of the funeral/visitation, we were allowed to arrive 1 hour early to set anything up and be alone with my dad. We were greeted by Lorraine who was proactive in telling us how to park and where we could take the food and drinks. They provide cups and coffee and we brought in plates and napkins. They have a full-size refrigerator to use in a kitchen area that also has tables and chairs. Lorraine showed me where the Bluetooth speaker was and it was very easy to connect to, but a word of caution, if you have the phone on your person and you go back to the kitchen, you may be out of range of the speaker and lose connection. In the main room we were blown away to find they had printed a huge photo blanket with a picture of my dad and all the different things he loved. They also had a television playing the video slideshow, which was very well done. There were plenty of seating areas for people to visit where they wish. We had a short service with a deacon and afterward we had police escorted procession from the funeral home to the cemetery.
Afterward, we returned to the funeral home to pickup any leftover food or drink to find that Lorraine and her staff member had already cleaned up, consolidated and moved everything to the front for ease of pickup. Overall, we had a great experience with Burns-Kish and highly recommend them.”
