I've gotten more out of training here for a year than I did training for years at other martial arts places.They offer quality instruction in traditional Kodokan Judo rather than merely focusing on strategies for winning competitions. (We do also compete though and members of our club got gold, silver, and bronze at the State Championships recently.) Whether you're interested in Judo for self-defense or just as an artform, this is the place for you. There's also a great deal of emphasis on groundwork here. It's a relatively small club with a relaxed atmosphere.I've got a long way to go and lots of training ahead of me, but I'm confident that Virgil's Judo Club will help me continually improve both as a judoka and a person.“

“I originally brought my son here because he was being bullied at school. He is on the Autism Spectrum and I was assured he would be worked with the best way for him. He has been treated with respect in the most amazing way. I am now taking classes with him! I highly recommend doing so with your child(ren). This is a family environment that opens opportunities and confidence for everyone. My son has blossomed since starting here and has goals for the future. He was shy and quiet and now walks with his head up looking others in the eye (if you know kids on the spectrum that doesn't happen!) The Senseis and Teachers here are kind and patient yet know when to push you because they see your potential. Sensei Hernly, Sensei Ben, Sensei Tong, and Mr. Henry are eager to teach and genuinely love what they do. They are here for the students and nothing more.“

He offers no gi and gi classes as well as kickboxing. The coaches are knowledgeable and the students are welcoming. I highly recommend Naptown BJJ!“
