“JP Wood Martial Arts is a fantastic place for both kids and adults who want to learn Teakwondo. Both Mr and Mrs Wood are great with the kids and love to joke around, but keep professional. They also teach discipline, integrity and focus. No one wants anyone to fail and the other students jump in the help when needed. We have told many friends/people about them and have made new friends as well. My boys have been here for over a year now and love coming. Higher belts/older age get to use sparring equipment which is a great time to watch. I highly recommend this place for anyone.“

“Several years ago in my mid 40s, wanting to start something new, I was looking for a jazz piano lesson, but somehow ended up joining U.S. Matsumoto Shidokan Karate instead. All my family and friends were stunned because I was the least likely person to do exercise or play sports, let alone martial arts. I did not know (and still do not know) what made me change my mind. That irrational decision I made, however, has turned out the best thing I’ve ever done to myself.Training is so intense at our “dojo,” which means a martial art school in Japanese, I always try to find an excuse not to attend the class up until making the last turn into the parking lot there. One hour later after the class, I feel great, invigorated mentally and physically. The positive effect on my mind and body is just unbelievable!Now in my mid 50s, I would like to use my precious time on learning from and getting inspired by something/someone top-notch and essential as much as possible. Shihan (Master) Matsumoto is a first-rate karate master who not only teaches us martial art techniques (of course, his focus in the class is improving each student’s technique and he knows exactly how) but also inspires us to be a better person without saying too much. Shihan Matsumoto, his wife Sensei (Instructor) Etsuko, a great teacher herself who encourages us to be positive all the time, and my fellow students at Matsumoto Shidokan are the people dear to my heart besides my family.Since the beginning of this COVID-19 pandemic, U.S. Matsumoto Shidokan Karate has been providing on-line classes to its students. “I love it here! Coaches are really really kind. Pedro, the owner, Ariel and Jesus make me feel super welcomed! I just started and they really help me adjust since I’m a beginner. I go to smaller classes and like that I can get that individual attention. They really help fine tune everything! They push you to be your best and I have a new found love for boxing! The conditioning is intense but keeps you really fit. Love it here!!!“

“Master Jang is amazing! He’s so good with my two little ones, ages 4 and 6. My youngest was shy and hesitant at first, now she’s probably one of the loudest ones. It is a welcoming environment and he makes learning fun. They enjoy taekwondo so much, I hope they stick with it for a long time. We go twice a week and I’m sure the kids would want to go more often if I had enough time to take them. Love the family reminder to listen to and respect your parents.I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enroll their kiddos in taekwondo. I actually do try to get my kid’s classmates to join too. :)“
