“My daughter and I have been taking violin lessons together with Sarah Gasse for four years. Sarah's style is laid back, adaptable, and she meets the student at their level. She does not shame, and we learn a lot, while we're able to have fun in the lessons! I have never seen a child upset while at this studio - and while learning something difficult like a string instrument - that's impressive! If you're looking for a kind and encouraging studio for your kiddos (or yourself!) look no further. Sarah is the salt of the earth.“

844 Madison St, Oak Park“My middle school kid has been taking guitar lessons for over a year with an OPSM instructor and loves it. She looks forward to her weekly lesson so much, which is a testament to how enjoyable the instructor is. And she surprised me by secretly learning to play one of my favorite songs, with the very competent instructor's guidance (who apparently learned it over youtube by watching the musical artist play it at a concert). My kid has never complained about lessons--they are apparently that much fun! And my kid is learning a ton!“

2124 W Lawrence Ave 2nd floor, Chicago“Both of our children have been part of Musical Chairs for several years, and we truly can’t say enough good things about this organization—especially its leadership. The team is deeply committed to helping students grow, not just creatively, but academically and personally as well. Through thoughtful mentoring and engaging instruction, kids gain confidence and become better students. The classes are fun, well-organized, and fit seamlessly into our school schedule. We wholeheartedly recommend Musical Chairs to any student. Supporting this program means supporting the arts and a wonderful local small business—it’s truly a gem.“

656 W Barry Ave, Chicago“I've been taking voice lessons with Dr. Ariel Downs through Cantabile since February—almost 8 months as of writing this. While I still have much I want to achieve, my singing has indisputably improved since I began! For context, I had taken vocal lessons a few years ago with a different instructor (separate from Cantabile), but due to where I was at in life at the time, I didn't take them seriously enough to make any major strides. My initial email to Erica explained that I wanted to learn proper technique and how to deter the issues I had (and still have) with *tension* in singing and even my regular speaking voice. Erica promptly replied and suggested Ariel for my specific interests. After a single trial lesson, I knew 100% I wanted to schedule more lessons!Since then, Ariel has been an incredible resource for my vocal development! For one, she has a bright and friendly personality that cheers you on when you hit a milestone. That's great for somebody like me that always overthinks how I sound! On top of that, her work has observable outcomes. With every lesson I notice more relaxation, more natural vibrato, more confidence, and another step towards "unlocking" my individual singing voice. It's also worth noting that Ariel was quick to observe and adapt to how I personally learn!I've also had the brief opportunity to work with the other instructors when Ariel was away for a performance, and they all clearly share traits that are invaluable for instructors: curiosity, compassion, and an understanding of how to apply their knowledge to others—just to list a few!If I could give Cantabile more stars, I would!“

400 Nuttall Rd, Riverside“When my 3 year old played in her first recital after a few months of studying with Miss Nissa, I had no idea how it would go. Would she throw herself on the floor? Would she belt out "Let It Go" from the stage? Would she cry and refuse to bow to the audience?
I didn't need to be afraid. She did exactly as she had practiced - a deep bow that was met with thunderous applause and her stunned exhilaration. She practically floated back to her seat. Later, when we walked to the car, she held my hand and stopped me to say something I never expected to hear: "Mommy, thank you for believing in me."
And my heart exploded.
Nissa has created an environment where my daughter and I have this incredibly special activity we do together. It's our thing. And in so many ways, it's a metaphor for our broader relationship: exciting, creative, frustrating, confounding, loving and hilarious. We have so many games to play (pretend angry/goofy/happy fingertips), songs to sing and so many recital outfits to plan. And we have to work through the hard parts together, and our bond is stronger for it.
Violin brings me closer to my child, but it also gives her another adult to love, too. My child adores Nissa. She gives her running leaping hugs. She steals her chocolate kisses and they joke about it. She takes great pride in wiping off Nissa's dry erase board. She is entirely herself in Nissa's classroom.
There are so many more great things I could say, and so many more examples I could give, but the most important to me is this: Nissa has proven time and again that she is such a special teacher. She has texted me from her class at professional development conferences because she's so excited about a new idea to engage my kid. She delivered a note from the "Violin Fairy" to clarify that her bow should be used only in specific ways - and the note was hand decorated with a fairy, purple flowers and glitter. She brings the kids together after their recital to do yoga because she knows they need to decompress.
I'm so happy that Anderson Music Studio is part of our lives. It's one of the best investments our family has made. And whether or not my child ever plays violin professionally or recreationally as an adult, it has deepened our family's ability to love and appreciate music together.“
“Wiggle Worms is a must do for your little ones! My son gets so excited every week to go visit Miss Becca at class. She has a wonderful voice and really engages with the children. The song choices and activities are perfect for my son to participate and be active. Shout out to Miss Becca!“

410 S Michigan Ave Suite 719, Chicago“I took my old heirloom family violin to Chunyee for some repair, restoration, and adjustment and he did a wonderful job for very fair pricing. I trusted his judgment and he did not disappoint. He gave the violin a very compelling playable setup. I am loving this instrument now. He also did an informative updated appraisal. I truly appreciate his consideration and the quality and respect that he brings to his work.“

However, Ms. Hill has the unique ability to relate to how you learn, and capitalize on that. She will start where you are in order to take you where you want to go!I began my journey at the Music Scene as a voice student. I’ve since added piano, which I’d never played before. The Music Scene has opened new doors, and I am so enjoying this journey with Anisha Hill as the leader.“
“Muse is wonderful! Celeste is such an amazing teacher - she is great with my 8 year old, amazing with children, she is patient and kind, gentle and builds confidence and interest. We couldn’t imagine having a better experience! The recitals are twice a year and we enjoy them, the kids really shine. Celeste is so accommodating and easy to work with. Very responsive and professional. She’s wonderful and we adore her.“

FINE ARTS BUILDING, 410 S Michigan Ave Studio 710, Chicago“Dr. Yulia Lipmanovich's teachings are beyond of what is expected. The true heart of the Russian School of Music is with her. It is not every day that you come across a person who've studied with the great Rosina Lhevinne. If anyone wants to improve their skills as a concert pianist, you have to come and study with Dr. Yulia. I am a concert pianist myself and I have been a student of hers since August of 2017 and I can see a huge difference in my playing today and before meeting Dr. Yulia. The best way to describe her teaching style is that she is just like her teacher Rosina Lhevinne - she's passionate, patient, goal-driven, and cares about her students by giving them every advantage to be better. The environment feels as if it is a family because she treats everyone like a family. If you are serious and truly passionate in your piano studies and want to know the true artistry of piano, you should come and study with Dr. Yulia Lipmanovich.“
