Pet boarding/training in Honolulu

“We worked with Kristi to introduce e-collar training to our reactive german shepherd mix and am so glad we did. Knowing his problems, we thought we’d have to do 8 lessons but only ended up needing 3. After our 3 lessons, we saw HUGE improvements in our dog’s reactivity and we felt we had all the necessary tools to reinforce his training on our own. I appreciate that Island Dog Obedience didn’t just try to grab our money. They didn’t try to over-sell packages with extensive numbers of lessons that our dog didn’t actually need. Instead, they equipped us with the training skills that made us feel confident training our dog on our own going forward.

I really appreciated that Kristi consistently brought other dogs to our training sessions so that my dog had real opportunities to put his new skills to the test and show that his reactivity could be controlled.

My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because Kristi didn’t seem super organized or professional at times. She accidentally missed one of our first sessions without prior notice and would sometimes ask the same questions at different training sessions because she didn’t keep any kind of “file” or notes on our dog. My husband and I are both type A people, so that just naturally clashed with us a bit, but other people may not have an issue with that. Overall we got the results we were looking for and are super grateful to Kristi!“

“I’ve been taking my 15 year old shih tzu here for over 5 years. This is the best place I’ve been in the area for grooming. They do a good job and I can tell my dog enjoys herself while she’s there. I’ve had experiences at other groomers in the area where my dog is very anxious when I pick her up…but never here. That’s how I know the groomer does a fantastic job with the dogs making them feel safe and loved while they’re there. You know the non-verbal communication you have with your dogs? Yeah, that’s how my dog told me she approves. She now wags her tail when I ask if she wants a haircut. ???“

“I have been a loyal customer of Dr. Kam for the pass 30 years. You won’t find a more compassionate, loving and friendly staff. I love the fact that Dr. Kam dies the basic exam, vaccination, etc. in front of you. I’ve moved farther away from Kalihi & have tried closer vets, but don’t like the fact that they take my fur babies to another room doing who knows what or nothing at all without solving any medical issues. And one of them even had me tranquilize my Pit Bull just because she was just overly excited and just wants to love people. No tranquilizer per Dr. Kam and she was able to manage my Pit Bull with no muzzle. Anyway me and my fur babies Love Dr. Kam and her staff and pray she maintains good health and never retires. Thank You all for your Humbleness and genuine Love for animals, to include staying true to your motto: Treating & Loving Pets as Family!

“Always a great experience when we come here. Staff are great and helpful. Definitely pet people. Dr Hsu is wonderful in his education and options. Reasonable but definitely knows what he is doing. Highly recommend. Good parking lot. Always quick in and out.“

“An amazing boarding resort for cats, very clean, safe secured, well maintained, nicely decorated, high tech with web cams, and friendly caring staff. Conveniently located in town near HHS. The owner founder Chris is a super nice guy too. Attended a cat-themed event there recently and totally loved it. Their rates are reasonable, I will be boarding my cats here when I travel next time or otherwise need to board overnight (house tenting). The best part is in their logo: 'Every stay save a stray '. Gotta love their mission that they save and adopt out rescued cats. Follow their FB or Insta pages, and visit their website, they also need volunteers and donations to support their rescue operations.“

“Took my doggy for a nail trim. My Angel can get aggressive when you get near her paws, Alii Animal Hospital is the only place that will trim her nails. Other groomers refuse to trim Angel's nails because she gives them a bad time.“

“Dr Scott and his team have been taking care of my 15+ year old Shih Tzu since he was a baby. He saved him through many challenges and keeps him very healthy on the daily. He, Christina and all of his staff are always very kind and caring. Jeffrey loves Dr. Scott and we appreciate everything that they do!! We fully trust Dr. Scott, he's the best veterinarian and absolutely amazing!!
