“I have been diagnosed with Achalasia and more specifically jackhammer esophagus resulting in drastic weight loss due to my inability to swallow. They ended up installing a PEG feeding tube as they continue to conduct further testing to try and isolate the cause and zero in on exactly what/where the problem is. I am a disabled veteran and receive my health care through the VA. The VA has contracted with Accent to provide me with home healthcare visits. Every nurse who has provided care for me through them has been excellent! But, one in particular, Kim, has been a true rockstar for me!!! Anyone who has done business with the VA knows how daunting that can be, but being a veteran herself she has both the knowledge and fortitude to get things done! I was having extreme intolerance to the formulas that the VA was prescribing for me and Kim was instrumental in getting the VA to provide me with nutrition products and supplies that I can tolerate. She’s a wonderful nurse and person in general and I am extremely grateful to have her in my corner as I continue to navigate this very unusual health crisis.
