Our basement is the main play area for our 5 year old. But it is where the furnace is, and it also has a drop ceiling and a plush carpet so it gets EXTREMELY hot. I tried dehumidifiers and fans and they did not help. There are no windows so portable A/C units are not possible. I did a ton of DIY research on mini splits and due to the head being under the compressor it was a semi complicated job for any off the shelf kit like a Mr Cool or something. I talked to two other HVAC professionals and one had no idea and the other quoted about 10 thousand for a mini split to come from the opposite side of the house than where I envisioned the unit going.
