“My wife and I delayed doing "the major remodel" for years because we had heard all the horror stories. But the time had definitely come, and the perfect rental house fell into our laps in our neighborhood. So we decided to move forward and hired our architects. We were going to use a general contractor who had done some other remodels in our neighborhood. But our architects highly recommended Nick so we interviewed him as well. This was a major remodel, full kitchen with an addition, major structural changes throughout, full remodel of two bathrooms, a new deck and porch, new windows, in short, basically the works. From the first interview, it was evident that Nick knew what he was doing. He had thoughtful suggestions across the board and always provided a reasonable and pragmatic point of view. We decided to go with Nick, and it was the best decision we made. Nick managed to bring in our remodel on budget, on time, and with impeccable workmanship, all while dealing with the major obstacles of COVID19 and the shelter-in-place. It was quite incredible that he got it done. Nick is not overly dependent on subcontractors, and he knows how to line things up from a timing perspective and press those involved in the job so things run relatively smoothly and get done on time. At bottom, Nick is just a real pro, and I couldn't recommend him more highly. And to top it off, he is a good guy too!“

“Cook Construction handled our extensive water damage repairs in our home. I appreciated a site manager on our property whenever work was being done. They also stood out as an organized contractor with Friday notes summarizing the work of the week and the proposed work for the following week. Greg’s team was overly courteous to my neighbors as well as picking up the job site each night. I appreciated these small details very much. Lastly one day many months after our project was complete, our doorbell rang. There was Chris and his beautiful children out on a walk and wanted to say hi. Chris was one of the site managers. We chatted, and they kept going on their walk. The following week Chris sent me an email as he noticed a flaw on our front steps. He knew how to fix it and sent someone over to our home. Honestly I wanted to ask Chris about our stucco when he rang the bell. Yet I also just appreciated that he stopped over to say hi and wanted to keep the visit friendly. My expectations were exceeded when Chris sent over someone to take care of our stucco run off, and I didn’t even need to ask! This happened long after Cook Construction received our final payment for the project. “I engaged VTC for a complicated project and have been stunned with their level of competence and customer service. They worked with me to assess damage, design the rebuild, and maintain stability and security of a severly fire damaged San Francisco 1902 duplex when I was unsure how to proceed. Their rapid responses, thoroughness, and respect were beyond any other in my experience. Matt Joyce spent countless hours with me going over issues, numbers and options. He is transparent and candid; I have total trust in his integrity. Though I worked primarily with Matt, I received similar service from Kevin and Skylar. Skylar is a gem; she manages the office and speedily came to my rescue with logistical and administrative answers to concerns. This, to me, is unusual support for a construction company. “We put out bids for a ~$300k back yard project involving excavation, new poured concrete retaining walls, poured concrete stairs, a 650 sq deck and more. We knew that Rempe was likely to come back with the most expensive bid, and indeed they did. We took that bid because we had confidence that they had actually put some real effort and thought into the bid and that this would be the cost for the project, without overages unless we expanded the scope (which we did). It was broken down into fairly atomic pieces with costs attached to each one, showing us that they weren't just throwing a number out and weren't going to come back to us later saying, "Oh, this wasn't in the scope, the cost is going to go up." That's in distinct contrast to the other bids we got, which didn't give us nearly the same level of confidence that they'd thought our project through completely. We're EXTREMELY glad we went with Rempe. Working with them has been a simply fantastic process, from bid through to project completion. The answer to any request has always been "yes" (though of course some requests come with a price tag) and not only are they very detail-oriented but also concerned with trying to work around your life so they're only in the way as much as they need to be. As an example of their concern for detail: We had a couple very large outdoor umbrella bases sunk into the ground with 2'x2'x2' of concrete poured around them. I hate crooked lines, and when we put the umbrellas in after, I could see that one of the umbrellas was a little off. Measuring it, it was off by 0.9 degrees. Our foreman on the project (Dave Rempe, the owner/founder's brother), who is a construction superhero, immediately agreed that wasn't acceptable, jackhammered the base out, re-leveled it, and then repoured the concrete. Not only that, but he decided the OTHER one, which I hadn't even mentioned, was slightly off as well and redid that one without us even asking. I would absolutely use them again, and would recommend them to anyone who wants a project done very well for the price on the bid.“

Sergey responded quickly to the request for an estimate, came to investigate, identified the work to be done, and gave a very reasonable estimated price.He sent a crew quickly before several days of expected rain to do some waterproofing work on the roof to avoid further water damage. Once the rain had passed, he sent his crew back out to repair the damaged areas and repaint. The repairs look great, and the final cost was only a little above the original estimate due to some unexpected work on one of our windows.“
