3 3rd Ave suite 340, San Mateo“Masterful Construction completed our garage renovation and we are so happy with the results. We initially went to them for a kitchen reno but our priorities changed and pivoted to finishing the garage. We met with a few contractors and why we chose Masterful is because of Yuvi. He was so personable, knowledgable and overall a person who we felt like we can work with. We called him back to talk about our garage reno ideas and he came back on a Sunday afternoon!! He worked with our budget and helped us prioritize what should get done.
From start to finish, the team was professional, reliable, and efficient. They completed the renovation on time, and the quality of work was exceptional. Yuvi and his foreman came by daily to check on the progress, ensuring everything was on track and that the work was being done to the highest standard. We were so surprised to see them come by literally every day. We had a few other house-related jobs to complete outside of the garage and they were able to help us that on that work.
We appreciated how they always made sure to communicate with us every step of the way, keeping us informed about the project's progress and any decisions we needed to make.
If you're looking for a dependable, professional, and communicative general contractor, we highly recommend Masterful Construction. We are so happy with our new garage and would definitely work with them again!“

904 Industrial Ave, Palo Alto“I highly recommend Greenberg Construction for their professionalism, outstanding results, and excellent communication.
My wife and I hired Greenberg to design and build a second story addition and kitchen renovation, and we’ve been delighted with the results. From the very start, our project manager listened to both of us, collaborated with us, and kept us informed every step of the way.
The addition turned out great, and the kitchen renovation even exceeded our expectations. Not only did Greenberg deliver the look and layout we were looking for, but they also paid attention to fine details that I continue to appreciate.
On top of all that, Greenberg has stood by their work. We’ve had only a couple of minor issues come up, and both times, Greenberg promptly returned to correct them.
Thanks to Maor and the rest of the Greenberg!“

533 Airport Blvd. #400, Burlingame“I initially hired Method Remodeling to remodel my guest bathroom. This was my first experience with a home remodeling project and I didn't know much about the process. After interviewing local contractors across a wide cost range, I ultimately went with a general contractor, Method Remodeling, that was mid-range in terms of cost. With the lower quotes, I found that I would essentially be assuming many of the responsibilities and tasks that a good general contractor would typically manage for me. With the higher cost quotes, I found that they were not offering anything more than what Method would provide. Method Remodeling's owner, Doron, went above and beyond to work with me to translate what I wanted into a documented project plan with measurable milestones and requirements. He kept the project on track to successful completion, managing all aspects of the project that a really good general contractor takes care of on your behalf: getting permits, scheduling and managing the various professionals/subcontractors (plumber, electrician, painter, etc.) including a designer that can help you select all of the materials you need and document your specifications in a functional installation design (cabinet height, shower head height, lighting placement, mirror placement, etc.) for the team to work from. Most importantly, Doron was extremely responsive, acting as point of contact and troubleshooting any issues that came up to their resolution. I was so happy with how the guest bathroom turned out that I subsequently hired Method to remodel my half bath and primary (master) bathroom. The end results are exactly what I wanted but much better than what I had originally envisioned. What I found through this experience is that you need a general contractor like Doron with knowledge and integrity that you can trust and rely on to do the right thing. As mentioned in other reviews, he has a very positive attitude and brings that energy to the project. He was extremely invested in the outcome of my projects and I ended up with three beautiful bathrooms that are nothing short of total transformation in terms of aesthetic and function. I've just hired Method to remodel my kitchen next!“

530 Oak Grove Ave #101, Menlo Park“We remodeled our house in Belmont by adding a second floor and completely reconfiguring our first floor. We received bids from several builders but decided to go with Tony. We were living in Menlo Park at the time, and it turns out he lived on our street! Tony presented us with a reasonable bid for the work, and in the end, we are very glad we went with him. Tony has gathered a team of subcontractors over 30 years in the business that he trusts and that do excellent work. He is a great communicator, and he always kept us informed what was being done, what was next, and what additional things he recommended should be/needed to be done. The remodel took longer than we wanted but this was due to our choice not to hire an interior designer but to do all the work in choosing the kitchen designer, tiles, pulls, designing our bathrooms etc. ourselves. But that aside, Tony’s crew did a fantastic job with the new addition even navigating through issues with the design that looked fine on paper but didn’t quite work out as planned. For example, when a door (that would lead down to the garage) would not fit under the new stairs to the second floor, he just moved the garage stairs and made it part of the house (see pics) which turned out very nice, making our great room look even more open! Another positive for Tony is that he gives an honest opinion, especially given we were choosing our own accents. This saved us from a few mistakes we would have regretted, like our kitchen backsplash. In a way, it felt like we were designing our interior (and exterior) together, so Tony was sort of an interior designer (free of charge). Overall, it was a pleasure working with Tony and his crew. Their attention to detail and being sensitive to our needs was top notch. We highly recommend Nolasco Construction.“

1243 Laurel Hill Dr, San Mateo“I hired Jay at HeavyWood Construction to do Earthquake Brace and Bolt for my home. My foundation is formulated in an unusual maze of cement foundation throughout
the crawl space.
Jay found a way to bolt my house to the foundation where other contractors could not.
Jay did more for me than just Earthquake Bolt. He identified problems with pipe leakage and
worn out and falling down insulation problems that I was not aware of.
He scheduled his time to allow for the plumber to do repairs and insulation to be replaced.
Jay was a pleasure to work with because he cared about my house, and because of him the
damp soil under my house, caused by leaking plumbing is solved.
Thank you, Jay. I would recommend Jay to anyone needing his services.“

318 S B St Suite 12, San Mateo“Felix, Esmeralda and their team do excellent work! I’ve hired them twice, and would do so again.
In both cases, I hired Chinchilla to deal with leaking windows and the consequent damage. First I hired them to reinstall a bathroom window in 2022 and fix any damage caused by the leak. In 2023, I hired them to install an all-new new construction bedroom window, and to repair the more substantial damage caused by the leak. In both cases, Felix and his team worked quickly, neatly and accurately to install them and to repair the wall damage. Both windows have been drum-tight through subsequent storms, and you cannot tell that walls were ever opened up.
I later had a window technician to come out to perform some minor cosmetic and warrantied repairs on my new construction window. He was impressed with how it had been installed. The window manufacturer specifies a 1/16” tolerance, and Chinchilla did the installation with 1/32” tolerance.
Their billing practices are honest. The proposals are inclusive of needed tasks and make very clear what is not included in the job, so you won’t get any big surprises when you get the bill. If your work needs a permit, you can pay them to pull the permit for you and to coordinate the subsequent inspections.
Please keep in mind that Chinchilla Construction Administration does not do it all. You must have a good sense of what you want the results to be.
- There are no architects or interior designers on staff.
- Felix and Esmeralda can make recommendations as to fixtures, colors and finishes, but it is up to you to obtain most of them.
- For example, I needed to source and purchase my own window.
- If you do not want to do the shopping or find yourself overwhelmed by design decisions, I would suggest hiring an architect and/or interior designer to work with Chinchilla.
- They are not licensed to do mold remediation, and are honest about that. If you have a project where structural mold might be an issue, research and hire a mold remediation company who can work with other contractors you need for your project.“

2483 Old Middlefield Way Suite 160, Mountain View“a few months ago we hired Bary Scenery to start with a design for our ADU and backyard landscaping. After looking at a few contractors and also designers we decided to go with a design and build. Talked to the owner, Ali, about the process and he was very clear as to the fact that they design under the contractor license so if they end up getting the permit they are the only ones that can build it but he also said if they decide not to build with them we can shop around and get our own contractor but that contractor has to do their own permit work. Checked with local city and they confirmed that is the case, so we hired them to start with design.
Their team is local in Mountain View and have a nice design studio, worked with head of design Behdad a lot, he has a lot of architectural educational background from Italy and his style of work is very unique. They designed our ADU and our backyard in about 2 months timeframe and gave us details for the construction cost as well. We shopped around and found out that other builders prices were very similar to Bay Scenery but they did not want to deal with Permit nor they seems to have both trades we need which were General Contractor and Landscape Contract and we would have to deal with multiple companies ourselves which was not ideal considering our own daily work load.
Signed the contract to build with Bay Scenery, they have taken care of all of the permit work like clockwork and kept us in the loop. Few challenges from the city that they are working on and we are about to start build.
I must say we were not too sure about a design and build but found that the Bay Scenery team were the most transparent and honest about the process and so far have enjoyed working with them.“

Unlike other builders, he did not start the job and then leave to go begin another one leaving me high and dry for several days. They were there every day until the job was complete. In fact, I expanded the scope by having him do smaller size remodel on our other bathrooms and he got everything done in a very timely manner. He is very knowledgeable and very honest. I highly recommend him in his crew.“

We met weekly with the team with organized meetings. Not only was the work detailed and of the highest quality, but the team kept the living area clean and well protected so we were comfortable through the process. It is clear that Patrick Kavanagh has priceless expertise developed over time. Brian Kavanagh maintained tight organization of the project. Both are excellent resources for the most up-to-date information on construction, lead their teams with respect and produced an outstanding project result!“

We engaged them on a full basement remodel covering over 2,000 sq ft, including a bathroom, multiple bedrooms, converting an old workshop room to a wine room, and opening up a family room and children's play room. We're thrilled with the results. The team (James, Holly, Stacey, Matt, Stefan, and others) were all great to work with. The design support was excellent. James, the project leader, partnered with us through the entire project and drove it to conclusion. We also appreciated his frequent updates and constant availability for questions or follow-ups. The team was respectful of our house and delivered on everything they said they would do. We'll continue to use Lifetime for future projects.“

I was expecting the worst case scenario where we had to replace the whole bath tub, and that is when Roy's team came in. They were very fair about their quote, and recommended to first only charge the opening of the 1F ceiling to assess the leak. Daniel and the team worked really hard to find and fix the problem, so we ended up not needing to replace the bath tub and minimized the cost. We liked them so much that we plan to do a kitchen cabinet replacement with them soon.“

“My roofing guy Brian Perez from Bay View Roofing recommended Gr8work Builders after the parade of storms hit earlier in 2023. There was extensive damage to the siding. I had gotten quotes from other places, but no one else made me feel as comfortable as Patrick (the owner) and Cameron. The Gr8work team was incredibly responsive and walked me through various options for the job. In the end, I opted to replace the existing siding of the entire house with long lasting Hardie Board material. We also replaced an aging garage door and redid the deck with Timbertek material.Gr8work is a family run business and the care they put into working with their clients really shows. This was the first time I've done such a large project and Cameron was communicative through every step of the process. We had a number of change requests throughout the project and Cameron made sure that everything was completed to our satisfaction.I'm extremely pleased with the work and will definitely be using them again in the future. Thanks again!“
