Finding a stylist who truly understands Black hair is rare these days, especially here in the Santa Barbara area. I really appreciate her attention to detail and her genuine commitment to making sure I’m happy with the final result.

For example, after my first visit, I realized I wanted my beard trim a bit tighter. It was entirely my fault for not communicating that clearly in the chair, but I texted her over the weekend to see if she could fix it before an 11-day trip. She immediately booked me during the short time I had and fixed me up. I fully intended to pay for the extra time, but she insisted on doing it as a complimentary touch-up.

At this second appointment, she didn't make me feel rushed, nor did she seem annoyed by the request for a correction. “Chino was amazing! I recently moved up the street from Magnolia Shopping Center, and this was my very first time trying Magnolia Barbershop. I’ve been going to the same barber for almost two decades, so I’m extremely picky and hesitant when it comes to haircuts. But since this spot was within walking distance, I decided to give it a shot.

From the moment I walked in, Chino made me feel welcomed. He asked all the right questions, and it honestly felt like I’d been coming there for years. The atmosphere in the shop is great, too.

Most importantly, I love my haircut. I’ve been told by other barbers that my hair is difficult to work with because of the texture and the couple of hair swirls on the sides that make fading and styling tricky. Not for Chino. His experience definitely showed, and he absolutely did his thing.

I usually schedule an appointment ahead of time with my man Isaac, who continues to provide great services and conversation every time. He is very efficient with his time, so I’m in and out of there in about 30 minutes on my lunch break. Highly recommend.“
