“My feet were damaged by arthritis, and I have seen numerous podiatrists and purchased several different custom orthotics. After a few years of relative stability, my pain suddenly flared up and I could not walk without limping. My knees, hips and lower back were also being affected. Typically it takes a few months to see a doctor and then get new orthotics made. Hoping to find a faster solution, I searched online and saw some excellent reviews for The Shoe Doctor. Russell was kind enough to give me a brief complimentary telephone consultation so that I understood his business model and what the costs would be. I met him in person soon after and he immediately identified what the problem was, based on changes to my toes. He then measured and scanned my feet, explaining the whole time what he was doing. At the end of the appointment, I had a much clearer understanding of my condition, recommendations for more supportive shoes, and some hope of being able to walk without debilitating pain again. Best of all, he was able to get my new orthotics fabricated within a week! Two weeks later, I was able to complete a 4-mile hike with minimal discomfort. I'm extremely grateful for Russell's help and his responsiveness to my follow-up questions. “After 9 years of searching for pain relief, I found Chris. I had a complex medial meniscus tear in 2016 and have had about 5-6 rounds of PT over the years. I was not able to be as active as I once was and the inability to ever bear full weight on that knee resulted in problems with flexibility & mobility. “I'm about 4 weeks post-op from carpal tunnel surgery and initially planned to see a PT, but due to scheduling delays (3-4 weeks out), I was dealing with pain and stiffness at the base of my palm from built-up scar tissue. I found Dr. Asturias through Yelp and I'm so glad I did! He clearly has deep expertise in breaking down scar tissue to promote healing. Over the past 4-5 weeks, I've had 7-8 sessions with him. Each one starts with wrist adjustments and stretching, followed by Graston therapy to break up scar tissue and improve circulation, and ends with light therapy to accelerate healing. I won't lie--each session is painful (feels like torture at times!), but I see noticeable results within a day or two. When I first saw him, I couldn't even push press a 10lb dumbbell or squat because I couldn't bend my wrist back. Also, I was feeling immense pain at the base of the palm with any contact. After just a few sessions, I was pressing my pre-surgery weight and squatting again without pain. Dr. Asturias is incredibly skilled, thorough, and down to earth--super easy to talk to and makes the whole process efficient. Making appointments is a breeze--everything is done through their online portal, which makes it super easy to schedule or reschedule as needed. My wrist is almost fully recovered now, but I continue to go back because I keep seeing incremental gains after each visit. “I rarely write online reviews, but I felt the need to write this review. In June I had an episode where I went to visit a Chiropractor for an acid reflux issue (foolish of me) for just a consultation and the lady who was a substitute literally broke my back, in the name of just examining. I was in so much pain in my lower back, thighs and gluteal muscles that I could barely walk. My doctor suggested I go to physical therapy, after two unsuccessful attempts, I came across Shalaka's website and called her immediately. My first session, I saw relief, by 5th session I was walking pain free. She used ultrasound therapy that started healing my tightened muscles in the pelvic and gluteal area. Shalaka was patient and listened to my concerns, the main thing she pointed out was how I was still in shock and trauma from that event and discussed in great detail how I have to overcome it. She used manual therapy to ease my muscles too and that really helped me. I am glad I found her and I highly recommend her to women who have pelvic issues, issues with tailbone, gluteal muscles, as well as lower back and back issues.“
