“Dr. Shily is kind, compassionate, and down-to-earth. I never had any vision issues until recently (thank you middle age) and don't think I had even had a vision exam since high school. I was impressed by how comprehensive his exam was and appreciated the patient education component as well. I started to feel overwhelmed when he discovered my astigmatism, but he put my mind at ease instantly. He took his time to help me find the best eyewear, listened to all of my concerns, and even shared a bit of his wisdom and life experience with me. “I bought a pair of glasses with progressive lenses from a custom lab before I moved to California. They were perfect, but unfortunately, the frames broke. So, I went to three different places over two years to find replacements but none of the glasses matched the quality of my original pair. After doing some research, I realized that the poor results were due to fitting and manufacturing issues. Nowadays, most glasses are manufactured in central labs, which eliminates the personal touch required for working with progressives. So, I started looking for a place with an in-house lab and found Optometric Cafe in Beverly Hills. Although it was a bit out of my way, I decided to give them a try. When I called for an appointment, I spoke with Morteza, the owner, who was kind and pleasant. He quickly scheduled my exam and personally handled the fitting and measurement process. When I received my glasses, the quality was incredible, which confirms the importance of fitting and measurements. Overall, I'm very pleased with my experience at Optometric Cafe and highly recommend them to anyone with a tricky glasses prescription.“

“Annual eye exam.Focus (no pun intended, oh hell pun intended) to replace bifocal contact lenses prior manufacturer discontinued.Mission accomplished. Vision with new product as good BUT lenses thinner and barely tinted to distinguish where exactly they are/were in case reservoir let alone my eyes. Twelve days later both lenses disintegrated. FEAR!Did a lens fragment remain in my eye? PANIC!Next day emergency appointment.99.9% sure no fragment.Tutorial in handling new lenses. Possible user error.All is well.“

“Dr. Newman and her practice are excellent. I am bad keeping my eyes open for some of the tests. Really bad. One test took over 20 minutes because I kept blinking. But Dr. Newman was patient, made me feel welcome, and cracked a few jokes to relax me and got the tests done.The location is convenient with free parking, her staff are efficient and knowledgeable. And her practice is right next to other stores so you can knock out a couple errands at the same time. I have only good things to say about Dr. Newman Optometry!“
