1776 3rd St, Napa“Dr Mahaphon is certainly not your ordinary optometrist! Her in depth knowledge, skills, and training are so evident in her handling of my son’s issues. After a number of pairs of costly glasses he did not want to wear because they didn’t feel right to him, he finally wears his glasses religiously without request because he “can see really well now”. She takes her time, is very thorough, kind and clearly invested in the care she provides. We are very fortunate to have her here in Napa! Exceptional!“

300 Hartle Ct, Napa“We are off to a good start! I was inordinately cheered up when I drove into the parking lot at 10:30-ish AM and found a parking spot close to the entrance. I couldn't control the urge to double check to make sure it wasn't handicapped. Wonders of wonders, that was an open parking spot in front of a medical facility. The sign that identified the building is way high. About the level of the third floor. There is a much more reassuring sign to the right of the entrance. The security guard has clearly memorized the location of all the medical personnel and much more. I was directed to exactly the right point. Check in was a breeze. They had sent me the forms electronically to complete in the comfort of home instead of scribbling in a waiting room crowded with mystery infections. I flashed my card and it was done. There were maybe 4 patients ahead of me and I got to spend about 10-15 minutes in a nearly empty waiting room scribbling Yelp reviews. The view out that waiting room is just gorgeous. I was ushered to the patient area where the nurse reviewed my chart. I had realized one my doctors records had not been entered into the system and entered her diagnosis myself. That triggered the fine tooth comb and she reviewed every line. Then she made sure I had the correct forms to get those records transferred. I have been a patient in two major health organizations where they blew that off. And then failed to record the oral transmission of knowledge. Then she went over all my prescriptions and allergies. Now, Dr. Mason Donnell's turn. ( Ole refers to physicians as Dr. insert-first-name). He'd been briefed about the exciting situation- missing records, major new-to-them diagnoses, and a very recent trip to the ER. He too wielded the fine tooth comb. We reviewed all my conditions and symptoms and he checked again to make sure my paperwork wasn't caught in limbo. Since I had the foresight to skip breakfast and the appt ended at 12:30, I skipped lunch and got caught up in my bloodwork. The lab is in the building but they request everyone leave the building during the lunch break to prevent infection. In line for the Lab to open, I noticed they were giving away free samples of Naldone. Naldone is used to treat narcotics overdose. I actually know at least three people who need this. But they are in denial and diligently avoiding me because I have and will call the cops at the drop of a hat. Why waste the dose? And there you have it, a blow by blow of my first visit. As medical visits go, this one was great. They were very meticulous and didn't try to shove the paperwork off to one side. However, we all know the test of the medical system is in the endgame. It's the last visit that gets you. From my point of view, there seemed to be a lot of administrative mixups with the aftermath : confusion over referrals, missing records that the Doctor found but the department couldn't see. I spoke about this to a doctor outside of this system. Since Ole and CommuniCate merged recently and they are transitioning to a major update of their computer system this type of confusion is expected. Finally she mentioned given the amount of time they expect paperwork to be sorted, it is going better than usual. The referral went through and the appt scheduled. Total time to complete: 4 business days or within one week as promised.“
