The negative reviews above certainly don't reflect my experience with Dr. Joyce and his staff. I've been going to Dr. Joyce for over 10 years and have been extremely satisfied with the service and care I've gotten from him and his staff. I've never experienced unfriendliness or inattention. The selection of frames is extensive and if there's something they don't have, they'll order it for you to take a look at. My prescription has always been accurate and when it has changed, I have had virtually no adjustment period. I would have no hesitation in recommending Dr. Joyce.
I have been coming for years and typically have been good with my experience, however lately, the front desk reception can work on their customer service skills. Never a smile or welcome when walking through the door and approaching desk. I almost feel like I've interrupted their work. I don't go into the shop anymore just to shop for frames. Doctors here are very friendly and helpful. The advisors who assist with insurance and purchase of frames are friendly very knowledgeable as well. First impressions upon arrival are still very important in the overall experience.. I spent quite a bit of money on some prescription Maui Jim's, when I came to pick up the frames I asked if I can have it fitted. The lady in front questioned how it felt and advised me it would be a wait. Made me feel like it was a nuisance to ask.
Reviews are clearly hit or miss. I had a great experience with the optometrist and a very poor experience with the front desk staff. I called in to get my prescription and said I didn't need a fitting. When I arrived and was the only person there, the front desk person had my glasses sitting right next to her, and she made a point of ignoring me, disappearing in back, walking around 'adjusting' things, and somehow managed to waste 15 minutes of my time in a very weird and very sad power move. I would've been annoyed, but it was actually somewhat comical. I think the other people who work there know who this person is. It's a bummer when this happens to small businesses.
