Downtown Health & Physiotherapy Yoga

“I’ve been dealing with de Quervain’s tenosynovitis for about five months, and it has been extremely painful and frustrating. I was constantly in pain and had very limited mobility in my hand. I had been going to physiotherapy somewhere else for five months with little to no improvement, to the point where my family was worried that I might eventually need surgery.

I came to this clinic last week and had a physiotherapy session with Dr. Ahmad, along with laser therapy and acupuncture with Maryam. The improvement after just one session was honestly incredible. I made more progress in one session here than I had made in five months of physiotherapy elsewhere. My hand mobility is already much better, and my pain has decreased significantly.

I also had a chiropractic session with Dr. Siavash, which helped reduce the pain even further and improved my mobility.

Everyone at the clinic has been incredibly helpful, professional, and caring. I’m genuinely impressed with the results so far and only wish I had come here sooner. I’m very grateful to the whole team for helping me feel hopeful about my recovery again!“

Jaybird Studio — Yaletown Yoga

“Jaybird has been one of the best wellness and movement spaces I’ve experienced. From the moment you walk in, the front desk and management team are friendly, welcoming, organized, and consistently clear with communication. The rules, process, and class flow are always explained well, so even as a first-timer, you know exactly what to expect within the first few minutes.

The instructors are excellent. Before each class, they ask about injuries or needed modifications, and they approach it with genuine empathy and care. I’ve been recovering from injuries, and Jaybird has been an incredible place for me to continue moving safely. The heat, the thoughtful pacing, and the modifications have helped me stay connected to my body without feeling discouraged by what I can’t do.

The atmosphere is calming, grounding, and beautifully intentional. The music always matches the flow of the class—sometimes meditative, sometimes energizing, and at times it almost feels like dancing. It calms the mind while helping you reconnect with your body.

I’ve also really appreciated how accommodating they’ve been with membership changes, pauses, and resumes during my recovery. I’ve been coming for about a year and a half now, and even when I can only make it once a week, Jaybird feels like a grounding escape from the busyness of life. The instructors and staff have created a space that feels welcoming, supportive, and almost like family.

Also, for a heated studio, the space smells amazing. Their signature scent, candles, and incense are such a beautiful extension of the experience—lighting them at home brings back the same calm and grounded feeling I get in class.

I genuinely cannot see myself canceling my membership. Jaybird has been the perfect place for me to keep exercising while recovering, and with the addition of non-heated classes, especially for summer, I’m even more excited to keep coming back.“

Sadohana Yoga

“If you're looking for an authentic, traditional martial arts experience in the greater Vancouver area, you'll do no finer than Sadohana.

Family owned and operated, the head instructors hold a passion for the art you will be hard pressed to find an equal to in any discipline.

The depth of knowledge in Japanese Jujutsu is superb with the head instructor Hanshi Michael Seamark making annual trips to Japan to continue to deepen his own understanding of the art, both a master and a lifelong student.

If you're looking for exercise or a more modern look at martial arts, Sadohana also offers a very comprehensive BJJ program. Here you will learn the root fundamentals from the same system used by world champions, Saulo and Xande Ribeiro as well as Rodrigo Pagani. The pedigree is impressive to be sure.

All in all, if you are a curious beginner or an intermediate practitioner, you will find something for you at Sadohana“
