The Alaska Club West in Anchorage provides a spacious and motivating health club experience with a variety of group fitness classes such as yoga, group cycle, Insanity®, ZUMBA®, and more. The club features energetic and prepared instructors, including Xochitl, who leads fantastic yoga classes with a fun, dry sense of humor. Personal trainers offer thoughtful workouts tailored to individual abilities, promoting a healthy body and mind. Members can access the fitness gymnasiums, functional training area, cardio equipment, basketball court, and weight rooms at any time with a gold membership or above. The club has been a friendly and upbeat environment for 13 years, with great instructors for classes like yoga and Pilates. The front staff are noted for their friendliness, and while the membership costs more, it includes the added benefit of enjoying the various classes offered. The gym is always clean, and the locker rooms, particularly the men's, are consistently well-maintained with fresh towels available. Open 24 hours, the club is convenient for those who work late. Some areas of the club may not be accessible outside of staffed hours of operation.
I was there on a day pass and Julie was great in helping me get set up. A big gym with an excellent selection of equipment from the top fitness brands, multiple stations made it easy to find open equipment and based on the others there at the time, clearly a gym that attracts strong/power lifters but without any of the attitude that can go along with that. Good shower and locker room facilities that were important for me between trips.
I went to The Alaska Club West and had such a great experience, especially because of Julie! She is incredibly welcoming, helpful, and genuinely cares about the members. She always takes the time to answer questions, make people feel comfortable, and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone has a positive experience.
You can tell that Julie really loves what she does and takes pride in creating a welcoming environment. The club has a great atmosphere, and having someone like Julie there makes such a difference. Highly recommend The Alaska Club West!
I spoke with Julie today and she told me all about the pool and rock wall, etc. She was very informative and after learning more about the facility am excited to make use of areas I haven’t used yet!
