We originally planned for him to enter a willed body program, but they declined him on the very day he passed. Thankfully, Tracey helped us set up a policy with Mountain View Funeral Home that very same day. She was so comforting, knowledgeable, and professional, and she showed us how a policy we were setting up for my mom could be transferred to my father.
After his passing, Bob met with us to walk us through all of the paperwork and the next steps. Both Tracey and Bob were incredibly supportive. They made a very difficult time in our lives so much easier, and we are so grateful for their care.“

5210 S Alder St, Tacoma“After the recent death of a friends son, I was helping her through the daunting task of finding a crematorium to do the cremation. It was a sudden, very unexpected death and it hit her hard, along with having a budget to get it done. My daughter and I found at least 8 places and the prices were anywhere from $1295 + all the way to over $2000 ( quoted by The Neptune Society) who claims to have low cost cremations. Also, if you weighed over 250lbs there was an extra fee for these other places. Oakwood had a basic cremation for $795 and believe me it was including pickup of the remains. The only extra charge was for death certificates and a King co coroner fee that was charged by the county and no getting out of that $100 fee, all the other places we called made sure to mention this fee, Oakwood also did not charge extra fee unless the body was over 300lbs and unfortunately due to a lot of fluid buildup, he weighed a little over 250lbs,I was able to do it online and the online order helped to fill out the form for the death record and made sure all required information was input before sending. We paid after all was filled out and just contacted Oakwood to verify pickup and was told to call the hospital to authorize release of the body to them. I had a few questions and the lady that helped was kind and compassionate. So, if you want to do prepaid cremation do so and save your family from extra stress and Oakwood Hill is highly recommended.“

2215 6th Ave, Tacoma“Sarah and Nicky took very good care of my father until I could arrive in Washington. We were able to get everything started over the phone. My father had passed alone in his apartment. The funeral home had the foresight to look around and find his important papers and wallet which made my life much easier with the death certificate and all the other million things needed to do when a loved one passes. They are very honest, as well. They found money on him which they applied to the cremation services.
The price was very good. They bundle a cremation package which includes the death certificate, his transportation, their services etc. Also, they worked hard to get my dad's death certificate for me before I left Washington, which I did not expect. I was only in town 3 1/2 days to clean out his apartment and had it in hand before boarding my plane.
Most importantly, they comforted me during this difficult time. They always took my calls and I sometimes spoke to them 3-4 times a day. They also kept me informed via email before I arrived. They treated my father with respect and dignity and me with kindness Thank you so much Sarah and Nicky. I really don't know how I would have gotten through that week if it was anyone else.“

The staff were kind and courteous but also extremely helpful in making the headstones attractive and liked by all family members concerned. I will be using them again, hopefully in the distant future.“

“When my husband and I moved to Arizona, 4 & 1/2 years ago, I never imagined I would need the help of Gaffney Funeral Home. When my husband died, after only a few days in the hospital, I knew just who to call. I grew up and grew up in Tacoma, WA when my previous husband died nearly 25 years ago. At a time of deep sorrow, when your brain doesn't even want to believe what's happened, I called them, all these years later. They took care of everything for me. From talking to hospice, to making arrangements with funeral home here in Arizona where Tim arranged for my husband to fly to Tacoma for the burial, to sending me pictures of Casket's to choose from and so, so much more! I was calling Tim multiple times to ask questions and when it was time for the funeral he was there taking care of everything. I don't know what I would have done if Tim Grant wasn't there to coordinate everything for me! I then had the time to arrange all the other things I had to do. Tim is a total professional. He knows what has to be done and he gets it all accomplished, so you can relax with family and friends and not worry about anything. When the day's finally here, and you have to bury your loved one, believe me that is a huge relief to know it will all go as you planned. Thank you Tim, and your entire team at Gaffney, for all that you do.“
