I just had my first experience at Mt. Shuksan with Danae Johnson and I have NEVER been treated with so much kindness, respect, and agency as I have by her. She clearly [actually] cares about her patients and their experience in the medical system and was also very open about wanting to take in information regarding past traumatic medical experiences and past traumas in general. What an amazing gift to the community to have a trauma-informed provider who makes patients feel safe, seen and valued. She is a gem and I'm so glad I was able to get in with her, I actually can't recommend her enough!
I always feel seen and heard! They always express genuine concern for my health & well-being and really listen and work with me to resolve my health challenges. Everyone there is compassionate and professional and engaged. I trust their recommendations and referrals and truly appreciate their commitment to follow-up contact. I'd give them 10 stars if I could!
I recently moved up to Bellingham from the Lake Stevens area. I decided to try something different and actually research my choices. My last doctor was an internist and pre internet I picked him because he was local and on the list of providers I could select. When I researched Bellingham the professionals at this clinic all seemed well liked by their patients and nothing poor commented that I saw then. I had heard good things from others regarding the more personal demeanor you might experience with this new option. I first saw Lucia Pearson, who was exceptional, personable and easy to talk with about my medical profile. She is out on leave and yesterday I was seen by Megan Gruber. I was kind of crabby honestly when I came in & less forthcoming initially. Megan had me quite comfortable within minutes and after sharing some of her thoughts on action steps I actually felt compelled to do what she suggested. Not that these same strategies have not been recommended in the past by other professionals, she simply was great listening first asking some clarifying questions, how I felt about what she had suggested and reconfirmed how I would benefit. She carefully looked over my medications list which was lengthy and then explained some modifications she would make and what did I think. There is a reason if you google top Nurse Practicioners in Bellingham, WA that she is top of the list. If you are considering a change from the traditional doctor/patient arrangement you may want to consider the Mt Shuksan Clinic across from the beautiful Catholic Church on Cornwall. The office is not fancy, very modestly furnished, but the caring staff from check in to follow up is excellent. Megan even called after the 2 PM appointment the same afternoon with some follow up. My previous doctor never called me in 15 years, and if I called I got a staff member. Can not recommend enough the refreshing difference of coming and going without feeling stressed, first time for that as well.
