The providers are very good, but I often have to wait weeks for lab results, and referrals almost never get put through. I have had to phone two and three times to get a referral pushed through. On one occasion I drove to the office to pick up a hand written referral so I could hand deliver it to the other provider where I was being referred.
They definitely have a problem with processes.
The front desk and intake nurse were friendly and efficient. I was there for a physical and was seen by a PA, Jessica Cox, and her PA student. They listened intently, answered my questions, asked relevant questions, and followed up with a thorough exam and bloodwork. The bloodwork results were available within 48 hours. The phlebotomist who drew my blood was quick and made this a seamless procedure. In the waiting room, I noticed that the staff appeared to know their patients - nobody was treated like a number including me.
Went to Roanoke Family Medicine for my yearly check up & medication review. PA Whitenack is no longer with this practice, so saw another PA. Truthfully, I was not impressed. The PA did not ask me any questions at all and just focused on medications and refill needs. The focus on medications is fine, but the PA was not at all interested in learning about my medical needs as a new patient. PA Whitenack would have addressed the medication needs as well, and then would have inquired about my emotional well being, nutrition, activity level etc... all aspects of my life that impact my physical health.
