“I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Michael Higginbotham and his team during my visit for my dog. Dr. Higginbotham was extremely helpful, took the time to thoroughly explain everything, and clearly demonstrated his expertise in the field. He made me feel confident and comfortable with my dogs MRI results and provided an accurate diagnosis. He even showed me the MRI images and pointed out the specific issues, which was very reassuring. I never felt rushed, and I truly appreciated the care and attention my dog received while there. Although he wasn’t able to perform one of the optional treatments himself, he recommended an oncologist who may be able to help my dog further.

While the services were expensive, I can confidently say it was well worth it for the professional care and the peace of mind from finally getting the correct diagnosis. His assistant was kind and caring, and the front desk staff was attentive and welcoming. I highly recommend this veterinary office for anyone in need of specialized care for their pet.“

“The level of care my cat received was impressive. I went in with all I had and they did what was needed to find out what was going on. Blood work,x-rays,medication, update vaccine plus full examination standard fees is cost$223. All I had was $42. And thats what it costed. Full top-notch services given with kindness and care!“

“Dr. Jane took wonderful care of my cat Marlowe for the entire seven years that I had him.

Marlowe had some upper respiratory issues (later diagnosed as chronic rhinitis and congenital nasopharyngeal stenosis). Dr. Jane gave great advice for managing his condition and referred me to a great specialist when he had to have a rhinoscopy done.

Dr. Jane was always direct with me about my options, how it would affect Marlowe’s quality of life, how likely the treatment or medication was to solve the problem, and how much it would cost. I always had faith in her recommendations and never believed she would advise surgery or a procedure for Marlowe unless it was truly in his best interest.

I had plenty of times where Marlowe exhibited minor symptoms that concerned me (ie sneezing, holding one eye closed, one time he got stung by a bee, etc). I would call the office or email in asking if Dr. Jane could advise. She always got back to me same day (either via email or calling) and was always happy to answer questions.

Marlowe did not enjoy going to the vet, but Dr. Jane and all the staff were so sweet with him every time we went in. I always told him “you’re just going to stop by so everyone can tell you how handsome you are!”

Marlowe died very unexpectedly on August 23rd, 2025 just shy of his 8th birthday. It was a weekend, so an emergency vet handled his cremation. I emailed Scott’s Addition Animal Hospital to let them know the news and got a call from Dr. Jane on Monday. She was so kind and had such wonderful caring things to say about Marlowe. She helped me understand the most likely cause of his death, which helped me to find closure. She talked to me for a while and told me to reach out if I needed anything or needed to talk again.

I am so grateful for everything she and all the staff did for Marlowe. If I ever have another pet, I would entrust their care to this team.“

“I love Dr. Zuccaro (Dr. Mike is what I refer to him as, but he also goes by Dr. Z. LOL) and his entire team. I started going there a little over 15 years ago with my yellow lab, Harley. I recently had to put her down, and he was so kind and sweet. He remembered me bringing her in the first time and how they saved her life as a 7.6 lbs puppy. His clinic was the only one she ever visited, and I will continue to see only him and his team for all my future pet care needs. I highly recommend his clinic.“

“We have had nothing but fantastic experiences at Betty Baugh’s. My girlfriend and I moved to RVA a few years ago with her now 13 year old cat, and we have been going there for all our vet needs. They are fantastic at working with you to ensure that you receive all the required care for your pet, while still working within your budget. It has been fantastic for a couple of college kids with an old cat. The entire staff also cares so much. Recently, when our kitty was having some stomach issues they managed to fit us in between appointments. Multiple members of their staff have messaged us to check in on our cat (not just the doctor, but even some of the front desk staff). We highly recommend Betty Baughs!“

“I love this practice's care for our cat! It's so clear how much they all care. While there's sometimes a bit of a wait, it's because they are flexible in emergencies to get in pets in need. Reasonable prices too!“

“We brought our dog in to get a growth on the top of his head removed and sent for biopsy and while he was under get his teeth examined and cleaned and nails trimmed. The staff was very professional and kind and did an amazing job taking care of my boy. His teeth look so great (though he had to get one removed - but his breath does not stink anymore) and it was worth the hour and a half drive to Richmond. The care and the price cannot be beat.“

“If you’re looking for a less stressful vet visit for both, your furry friends and yourself, give Capital Home Veterinary Care a try. CHVC was able to fit us in and help us with allergies that both our dogs were having. Our dogs were not stressed and it was such an easy visit.“

“I couldn’t recommend The Fan Veterinary Clinic more! I’ve been taking my pets here since I moved to Richmond in 2019 and they’ve been the best vet I’ve ever been too—hands down. They are so reasonably priced, don’t try to scam or up sale, and genuinely care for your pets! I took my dog to the urgent vet and had a horrific experience, and followed up Monday with the fan and we did so much more for a fraction of the price AND they called the next day to check on her ? they are so sweet and thoughtful! I’ll never take my fur babies anywhere else in RVA!“

She came to our home and helped put us at ease when it was time for our Lola to cross over the rainbow bridge. She let us take our time with her, she was gentle with her explanations on what was going to happen and she gave our Lola so much love and respect. “My dog Tres was urinating in the house. Even though I could not get an appointment for him for 3 days, they asked me to bring in a urine sample. Tres had a UTI and I was able to pick up antibiotics for him that day so we could work on stopping him urinating in the house the same day.
Tres had his appointment on Monday and they gave him medicine for a skin condition. The staff are always helpful and compassionate. I have been a customer of their's for more than 20 years.“

“Dr. Miller is literally an angle. My dog was having trouble giving birth and all the other vets turned me away or tried to charge me 2 arms and a leg to give her a c-section.
