“The day after Christmas, on December 26, 2024, I experienced a devastating house fire. The fire started in my living room and burned long enough that smoke filled my entire home, making it unlivable and requiring a complete remodel.

Shortly after the fire, Andrew from Capital Construction was one of the very first people on the scene. At a time of devastation, high emotions, and uncertainty, Andrew provided reassurance, kindness, and genuine empathy. As the main contractor, he was never pushy or focused on selling Capital Construction’s services. While multiple contractors were driving by and leaving business cards, Andrew’s calm professionalism and compassion made Capital Construction my clear first choice.

During the first few months, Andrew maintained constant and consistent communication, keeping me fully informed every step of the way. Soon after, I met Nick, who was in charge of handling the contents inside my home. Like Andrew, Nick went above and beyond — always communicating clearly and making sure I knew what was happening and when. He and his crew even took the initiative to gather items of personal or financial importance, such as credit cards, IDs, photos, and jewelry and get them to me immediately.

Andrew and Nick also referred me to other companies that matched their same level of professionalism. Tom from Hamlet Dry Cleaning is a perfect example — he and his team went above and beyond to help my family regain a sense of normalcy during such a difficult time.

Melissa at Capital Construction was incredibly helpful in coordinating communication between the insurance company, Andrew, and me. The entire team was flexible, responsive, and understanding when it came to navigating insurance payments and documentation — even helping send insurance checks to my parents, who are on the deed but live out of town.

As the months passed and the remodel came together, I was introduced to Chris, the Project Manager, who continued the same excellent level of communication. Tayler was an absolute joy to work with — we spent nearly two hours together choosing every detail, from door knobs and light fixtures to fans, faucets, and sinks. Her patience, attention to detail, and design insight made the process enjoyable despite the circumstances.

When the remodel was complete, I walked into what felt like a brand-new home. The quality of the work exceeded my expectations. Nick’s team remained responsive and respectful when addressing final touch-ups, and the entire Capital Construction staff continued to offer support even after the project was done.

While it’s bittersweet to see our collaboration come to an end, I’m forever grateful for the compassion, professionalism, and excellence that Capital Construction brought to such a difficult chapter of my life.

“Worked with Elwood and Rick after our home had some fairly extensive water damage. They were great to work with. They were on-site for the insurance adjusters walk though and ensured all damage was accounted for in the estimate. They have outstanding subs that they work with that made the process smoother. “OCC Group as general contractors are a great group. Our 1922 home was completely incomplete. Not a single room was finished - every room needed something done and not just paint and floor refinishing. Radiators needed new pipes, chimneys needed flashing, gas needed to be routed to the kitchen again. We had every light fixture done (original fixtures were moved to new rooms after re-wiring, new fixtures were installed where no original existed). New handrails (stair rails) had to be installed on the front and back porch stairs. And it was all done without constant back and forth and without our "supervision." Our vision of what our home would look like was made a reality by OCC. We can't thank them enough. Were there surprises? A few, but each and every time we were consulted and given our options or choices. There was never any pressure to do one thing over another. We made informed decisions (and I'm sure I asked enough questions!).“

“Working with Rainbow Restoration and Garrett has been smooth and seamless. From replacing a leaking spigot to inspecting water damage, they call you and schedule you quickly!

Back in March, 2025 they replaced an outside leaking spigot that I had ignored for a few years. They gave me a a great price and fixed it within a week! There was a little water left in my crawlspace from the work but I was able to clean it up easily.

My experience with them has been great so far! I will be working with them on some water damage in my kitchen from outside and will update this review once all of the work is complete.“

“I cannot speak highly enough of this team. After my dishwasher flooded my kitchen, USAA assigned this team to the job. From start to finish, they were class acts. David was extremely communicative. The insurance company really limited the budget I could work with, and David and his team helped break down what was possible. Everyone showed up on time, worked with my schedule, and stuck with their timelines. Also, I always felt comfortable with whomever was in the house. When I had a question about the floor, Mr. Frick came over himself to help sort everything out, the same day. I am not even close to their highest paying customer, but they treated me like I was. Really cannot recommend them enough. If I ever need home repairs again, I'll call them.“

Especially with one of my kids having allergy issues, hearing Chuck tell us about the mold in our system was pretty jarring and to think we've been in this house 21 years and never had our ducts cleaned. “Update: My project is complete. After the demolition of everything my homeowners insurance tried to cheat me on the money necessary to repair the damages in the 2 bathrooms. Jason was instrumental in educating me of my rights. I read my homeowners insurance policy and demanded an appraisal. By the way, he even referred me to an appraiser.Several months later, the 2 appraisers came up with a settlement that was more than we originally asked for but it included ADLS since residing there was impossible during the work. It just so happened that my mother was getting ready for surgery so we started when she went in knowing she'd been out for about a month allowing me to get extra smaller things done. This may sound horrible, but it's not.. I have a security camera and I use it to spy on my teenager when he's home (playstation), but I got a few laughs watching the guys. They moved like lightning, but my most FAVORITE was watching one guy put the door on my bathroom closet. He had this look on his face that something wasn't right. Of course it had been messed up for years, but he fixed it. Whomever replaced the kitchen floor cut out a section so the door would stay shut FINALLY!
