Beware. Doug McLellan is one of the shadiest and dishonest people I have ever met. I had a camera set up to keep an eye on him and his subs while they worked in my absence. Saw them rummaging through closets and when I asked what they were looking for, McLellan couldn’t make eye contact or offer a plausible explanation. He’s not even a good liar. Have since spoken to another client of his, who also had a similar experience. Run, don’t walk.
Hired in April to finish off attic space, which included installing a window. No plumbing. 5-1/2 months later, it was finished. Doug Mc Lelllan starts off as an interested and reliable contractor, but the only thing that he was ever on time for was picking up his checks. On top of his lackadaisical approach to my project, there was collateral damage done to objects in my home, later found stashed under the shrubs. When questioned, his answer was that he meant to tell me, but he forgot. He also laid an adhesive carpet protector on the wall to wall carpet in the thoroughfare room to the project area. Contractor hired May 2018 to finish upstairs space, including installation of a dormer window. Contractor stated from the beginning that materials (sheet rock) must be hoisted through dormer window once installed, as inside stairway space was inadequate for making the turns to deliver through the home. Contract was signed based on that information. At the stage of sheet rock delivery, the contractor said that hoisting was cost-prohibitive and materials would be carried through the house and up the stairs.
