About Veterans Administration Fredericksburg Health Care Center
Based on six reviews, the Veterans Administration Fredericksburg Health Care Center is a brand new, massive building that looks like a hospital. The staff, including doctors, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff, are professional, courteous, helpful, and prompt. They genuinely care about the veterans and serve them with a smile. The facility is very clean and has a friendly environment. The care teams are knowledgeable and supportive, with each doctor having an RN and a social worker. However, there are complaints about the parking lot. The handicap parking lots are too far from the entrance, requiring a difficult walk the equivalent of a football field for those with severe pain. The services like x-ray and labs are also very far from the entrance, and the elevators are nowhere near the entrance. There is also a question about when the Women's Health Care Center will open. Overall, it is considered a blessing and a great facility, though many hope it will become a full service clinic with Optometry, MRI, and CT Scan availability.
This is my first time at this particular clinic, it looks like a hospital though and it's about the size of one. I have not received any healthcare here yet, I went in today for administrative reasons. This place is massive inside and out. The parking lot itself which encircles the building is massive. The interior corridors are really large. Where I'm going to be seen each doctor has an RN and a social worker under them. Because I'm not established there yet, I have a telephone interview, then I have an in-person visit. They also had me schedule a backup visit in case not everything could be discussed on the first visit. Once I have my appointment I will update this.
It's a brand new building and all the people who work there serve the veterans with a smile. Everyone is professional, courteous and genuinely care about the veterans who come in for care and support. Unlike most other doctors or hospitals, i find these individuals to be extremely helpful and prompt. If you're a veteran then I highly recommend this place.
Although I had a change of PCP (NOT by my doing), the new PCP is very attentive and makes sure my labs, scripts, etc are taken care ASAP. Very happy with Dr. Rashid.
MY complaints are:
#1-- having to walk the equivalent of a football field (end to end) with severe back pain and hip pain due to wasaaaay too many handicap parking LOTS up front near the entrance. There is NO way there is a need for 4-6 parking LOTS just for handicap parking whilst the rest of the parking is so far from the entrance.
