Last year I was referred to the Beach Eye Care in Kempsville by my PCP and since I had a great experience, I didn't have any complaints when they offered to schedule me the following year for the annual visit. I show up to the appointment and I'm told that I need a referral to be seen and that they attempted to reach out. They only reached out the day before and left a message with no details, but even then my practice takes 1 to 2 days to send out referrals so regardless I would have to reschedule, despite them knowing and mentioning that Medicaid insurance changed their policy with them last August. I'm frustrated that I went there for an appointment that they knew wouldn't happen because they only look at appointments the day before, not allowing for patients to get the referral they need before the actual appointment. Nor was a mass email sent out in August stating that their policies changed for Medicaid patients, since I'm assuming I'm not the only person affected by this policy change. I wasted my time because they don't look ahead at the schedule AND the receptionist tried to refer me to a DIFFERENT eye care facility due to having Medicaid rather than because it's medically recommended. Which was really rude since I felt discriminated against due to having Medicaid and that the office doesn't want me as a patient due to the insurance I have. Dr. Lee was absolutely amazing at the first visit, which is the only reason I even want to come back.

Got LASIK. Dr. Alvarez and team took care of me. It was an incredible experience and continues to be every single day since. I am truly grateful to the good doc and team for providing me this freedom. Fast procedure. No pain. Vision is practically perfect.
