Upon entry, Jared's familiar face is at the front desk with a handshake out to greet you. He's wearing the clothes he sells because he loves them and believes in them. And in fact, he looks great, luxurious. Rest assured though, there is no sales pitch, just beautiful garments around you’re going to be curious about. For the last two summers, I’ve found myself in nothing but Sorek’s custom-fit shorts.

Politely accept or decline the beverage offer and grab a seat while you wait for your cut to begin. The barbers all run on time and each schedule more than enough for each client. If you're in Jason's chair, expect to make a fast friend and connect with someone that is going to remember your name and how you prefer your grooming.

My wife made an appointment for me with Sorek in 2021 when I decided it was time to let the rest of my fading flow go, and it was time to enter a new era of mid-skin fades and sharp lines. The guys made me feel comfortable with the uncomfortable, helped me laugh at myself a little by assuring me how common this is, and then got to work. When I went home, well, my wife still talks about how good I looked that day. Two years later, Sorek was where I turned for my wedding tux and to get my wedding party and myself looking our best. While I’m reviewing the barber work, the guys’ chairs are usually filled flowing hair that require expert eye and hand. Those gentlemen always leaving looking their best, with the same bounce in their step I feel.

I've had fades and beard trims by most of the guys there; they all have been world-class barbers, but the staff there today is the A-team. I'm sure to schedule my next appointment on the way out the door because demand is high. If you’re new to Austin and want to soak in some of the East-side weirdness, this is a great place to start.“
