Family Martial Arts of Texas offers a welcoming and respectful environment for individuals of all ages to learn martial arts. They provide a variety of classes, including karate and birthday party activities such as dodgeball, obstacle courses, and board breaking. The instructors are attentive, taking the time to learn students' names and provide additional support when needed. Both children and adults can benefit from the curriculum, which focuses on developing positive qualities and improving overall fitness through flexibility and mobility exercises. The school provides a safe and nurturing environment for children and adults of all abilities and physical fitness levels. New students and their families are made to feel welcome and important members of the school family. Prospective students are welcome to visit and try a couple of free classes before deciding whether to enroll. The owners and their office staff are very nice to work with. The highly qualified and personable instructors give each student time and attention regardless of age or belt level. Individual lessons are also available and affordable if a student desires extra help in preparing for a belt test or taking their skills to a higher level. The atmosphere is fun, and families are encouraged to watch in the comfortable viewing area. Students are able to achieve merit-based stripes between belt levels, and belt testing events are a fun and exciting experience for students and their families. The school's demonstration team, which performs at belt testing and other events, is truly amazing and inspiring! Good virtues and character are taught right alongside martial arts skills. Student safety is stressed, and optional special events are offered frequently which encourage family involvement. The facility is large and well maintained, and a wide variety of training equipment is utilized.
This review is very long overdue. I attended as a preteen and teenager 22 years ago and always loved this place. It taught me discipline while at the same time providing a space where I felt safe. They went out of their way to teach self defense for each persons strengths and created a wonderful community. I’m writing this review all these years later because as I look for for a place for my daughter (as I no longer live in Waco) it has become blindingly apparent how special this place truly is. I find myself wishing to find something that doesn’t exist because it is the people that make this place so wonderful. I highly recommend giving this place a try.
Where do I even began! Both my kids are in the beginning classes and they absolutely love it!! Grand master, his lovely wife and all the staff here are always so kind, helpful and the kids think they are so fun!
They have parents night out often, they make sure your child is where they need to be to test for there next color belt and it’s overall such a great place for my kids to be apart of!
They also gave Easter eggs to 5 organizations, churches or businesses and I won they provided me with 500 Easter eggs and I was able to share with my sons soccer team and friends they had such a fun Easter hunt and all thanks to them! We appreciate y'all and will always recommend...read full review
