“One word - Professional. KHR is one of the most professional experienced I dealt with. The knowledge of the job and the meticulous level of detail sets them apart from other contractors. Brendan installed a double front door. He showed up on time in 10 degree weather and before he got started did everything to insure the property was protected before work was done. He even came back for a second day to get the gaps perfectly aligned. Most contractors would come in and out and deal with the aftermath of any issues. Brendan took an extra day to prevent any issues from happening in the future, like wood expanding where the door wouldn't close properly. Highly recommended and worth the price of the expertise.“

“Next Level and I worked on a project together in Orange NJ. Over the 230 units. NL was the bright spot in an otherwise, at times, logistical nightmare. From the beginning, Charlotte and Rod orchestrated the entire operation as far as framing. NL was more like a family ran business for me. “After an exhaustive interview and vetting process, we hired Mulroy bay for a whole home renovation and two story addition on our home in Lower Merion, PA.

What stood out to us most was Brian’s attention to the process, from the earliest and most important stages - building a foundation and assembling a structurally-sound frame upon and around which to build the rest of the home - to the fine details of the finish carpentry. With the home being built in the 1940s, the ability of Brian and his crew to understand the original construction and adding onto it was absolutely critical, especially since there were multiple aspects of the build that involved removing and subsequently supporting load bearing walls - an incredibly anxiety inducing proposition, which went off without a hitch. The crew executed flawlessly on the vision that our architect drew up in the building plans, and in some cases they were able to improve upon some things that seemed like good ideas in the design process, but less so as the home took shape.

We broke ground at the beginning of July and were able to use the new parts of the house for the Christmas holiday of the same year. Finish work continued into February. While I will admit that we ended up being incredibly lucky with weather during the pouring of the foundation, framing and making the new structure “air tight”, the completion took less time than we’d expected because Brian’s crew was on site working in a professional, efficient manner every day that weather allowed, and left the site clean and orderly at the end of every day. This is something I didn’t fully appreciate until I saw how some other projects were handled by other builders on homes of friends and neighbors.

As with any project of this size, there were occasions in which change orders were necessary. What those changes were and why they were necessary was always explained clearly and when there were different tiers of options, those were always presented in a way that didn’t make us feel like we were being pressured into something that wasn’t needed.

We interviewed 10 builders and requested quotes from 5 of them. On more than 1 occasion, they sent a round number estimate, with no data as to how they got to that number. Brian’s initial quote for the project was incredibly detailed, something I would urge everyone undertaking a large scale renovation or addition project to not just request but insist upon. Except in the cases of change orders, the project was done on budget - no surprises, no “oh we thought this material would cost X but it cost Y, so your invoice is more than expected.”.

I could go on, but in short, choosing Brian “and the lads” to turn a house we bought into our “forever home” was one of the best decisions our family has ever made. Highly recommend - 5 stars!“

“Kurtz replaced my entire 40 square roof last month, replacing all the flashings, valleys, pipe vents, etc. with custom fabricated copper, plus they replaced an old cupola. The singles were replace with Certainteed Landmark Pro along with Certainteed's full line of products. Even though my house is primarily a single story with a second level dormer, they erected scaffolding around the entire house, which initially served to catch all the roof debris (rather than using tarps and throwing it all over the ground and landscaping). They brought a small truck (rather than a large dumpster) and carted away the debris each day. The scaffolding also protected AC units and landscaping. They worked in small teams of only 3-4 roofers, with one specializing in all the copper fabrication. The job took over 2 weeks to complete but it was well worth it. They took their time and they did very high quality work... and they fully cleaned up after each day's work. I am completely satisfied with the results. I received bids from 6 other companies and they all said they could do the job in about 2 days (although only one other said they could do all copper). After watching the amount of work the Kurtz team put into this, I can't imagine the chaos of trying to do this job in only 2 days... and especially with the same level of quality.“
