About Albertina Kerr Children's Mental Health Services
Albertina Kerr Children's Mental Health Services is a residential treatment center for youth. Reviews from former clients describe a complex and impactful experience that varies greatly from person to person. Many express very fond memories, stating the place was amazing and that it helped them overcome so much, providing needed skills. Several mention incredible, nice, and caring staff who wanted to see clients get better, with specific praise for swing shift staff. However, the experience is often described as uncomfortable and difficult. The environment is compared to a hospital or jail, and the process can leave an empty, lost feeling. Experiences heavily depend on the specific staff and other clients on a unit. While some staff are empathetic, others are reported to lack empathy or understanding, sometimes failing to address situations where clients feel uncomfortable or unsafe. The food is frequently criticized as horrible, horrendous, or questionable, and accommodations like mattresses are often called uncomfortable. Overall, it is seen as a unique place that could help a child or leave them in a worse spot. For some, it is the worst experience, while for others it holds a special place in their heart and was a pivotal, caring part of their journey to a better situation.
Been here 2 times. The following staff are the best : Iris, David, marquis, and Blayke. F the rest of yall, I and other clients had another client Making us uncomfortable (this happened in my first AND second stay) and the staff did nothing despite several reports and check ins to upper staff. Some staff just lacked empathy or understanding and wouldn’t help in the slightest. The mattresses feel like a brick unless you’re the chosen one and get a good bed. Prepare for constipation, stomach aches and questionable food because boy you’re in for a treat! Don’t get put on the haunted unit!! This place blurs time and kinda feels like hell sometimes. Goodluck diva
This place was amazing the staff was nice and they cared a lot my personal favorites were always swing back they were all fun and wanted to see u get better ❤️🩹
The food was horrible tho
i stayed there during almost all of march this year, food was god awful and they barely have any selection unless your fortunate enough for your parents to bring you your own food. some of the staff were really friendly but also some were horrible. it didnt feel like they really cared about if we were actually getting better but just trying to make us “better” enough to go home, they barely even made a safety plan for me that wasnt even really in place and i ended up attempting suicide again like two months later. treatment just wasnt effective, the skills they teach are really unorganized and just taught by whichever staff is working rather than someone who trains...read full review
