Other reviews indicate inconsistent experiences, describing some therapists as mediocre at best, providing generic advice. One psychiatric experience was initially positive with a kind and flexible doctor, but medication issues were not addressed, leading to discontinued treatment. A noted concern is that the service is quick to drop patients with no warning if appointments are missed, requiring a lengthy process to restart. The process to see a psychiatrist is described as very lengthy, requiring weeks of consistent therapy first. While some strongly recommend the service as a great facility and beautiful service for the community, others caution that finding an authentic therapist who cares can be slim.
We had a trauma in our family several years ago and I sent all three of my children here for trauma therapy and it made a world of difference. The owner is very professional and very kind person and he set us up with some wonderful child therapists and I will forever be grateful.
This review is to help out the overall rating of Bay Area. The majority of the low ratings found here are based in a fundamental misunderstanding of therapy. For all intents and purposes, the therapists are independent contractors and vary widely in their methods. A particular therapist's methods might work wonders for one person, but might not be as ideal for another. As for the occasional unprofessional therapist (as those described in reviews), a review of them on here affects all of the fantastic therapists at this company. I would encourage everyone to not let one poor experience color their opinion of this business, and especially, therapy in general.
I’m surprised by the low ratings for this organization, as they’ve been incredibly helpful to my son and me. My sister, a middle school licensed social worker, recommended their group therapy for my son’s social anxiety, and his first visit was life-changing—he felt safe, accepted and found his community. After a family trauma, he began individual therapy. I eventually sought individual therapy with a different therapist. Six months later, they started a supportive mom’s group.
