🚨 DENIED HEALTHCARE FOR A BRAIN INJURY 🚨 My name is Omar Van Stone. I am a disabled wildland firefighter with a line-of-duty Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) from the Rogue River–Siskiyou National Forest. Right now, in Cave Junction, Oregon, I am being denied healthcare. Siskiyou Community Health Center (SCHC) — a federally funded clinic — is refusing to treat me unless I sign a contract saying I will “control” my involuntary neurological TBI tics. Read that again. They are asking a brain injury patient to control symptoms that are medically uncontrollable. That’s like telling: • A Parkinson’s patient to stop shaking • A Tourette’s patient to stop tics I refused to sign something impossible. Now I have ZERO access to healthcare in my town. SCHC is the only full-service Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) here. That means I am cut off from Oregon Health Plan (OHP) care and behavioral health services. I have urgent medical needs, and this delay is making my condition worse. They are also pointing to a disputed chart note from years ago to justify denying me care. If that claim were real, why was law enforcement never contacted at the time? Why is it only being used now? Federal law is clear: The ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Affordable Care Act all prohibit denying healthcare or placing impossible conditions on a disabled person. Federally funded clinics are required to provide care — not barriers. This is not just about me. This is about how disabled people — including injured first responders — are treated when they need help. 💥 Disabled people deserve healthcare. Not ultimatums. 📢 PLEASE SHARE — help bring awareness and accountability. 📌 If you want to help, contact: • HRSA (federal oversight for FQHCs) • Oregon Health Authority (OHP) • Disability Rights Oregon

Leaving out the long story that led to my initial complaint to the Cave Junction Clinic, once I filed a complaint, my provider proceeded to cancel all of my appointments. my provider then opened up a chart visit (dates the same date of my complaint), even though we had no visit that day, and over the course of 8 days fraudulently wrote up various things I was "non-compliant in." I did receive a copy of all charts notes and that's the only time non-compliance is noted - after my complaint. My provider than accused me of fraud for recording my appointments - despite the fact that I have a known memory disability and the recordings are used to aid my memory of important visits. The clinic as a whole then discharged me without proper notice and my provider told my insurance that she REFUSED to sign anything during the 30 period following my discharge. Knowing that I have ALS, my provider violated her oath she took when she became a practitioner. Additionally, her and the clinic as a whole committed fraud by adding in false chart notes after my complaint as pretext for discharge. If you have health issues and value your health at all, stay FAR FAR away from this clinic. it's worth the drive to GP or Medford.

Their site says they offer certain COVID tests at "no charge" but conveniently leave out that they will still charge you for the visit. Taking advantage of people with the pandemic like this is disgusting.
