As someone who has lived in Tulsa basically my entire life, I can tell you that finding a salon here that caters to all hair types is unheard of. So when I saw that claim, I was intrigued...but I’m happy to say that Silk Salon delivered.

I get relaxers, which is a chemical hair straightening treatment, and I specifically wanted a stylist who was comfortable working with my hair after a 10-12+ week stretch so I could minimize my yearly scalp exposure to harsh chemicals. Thankfully, Imani completely understood and supported that approach. She also wasn’t intimidated or bothered by my extremely thick and coarse roots, which has not always been the case for me at other salons.

What stood out to me most was the patience Imani approached my hair with. She never made me feel like my thickness was a burden or an inconvenience. She took her time, was intentional with her sectioning and application, and treated my hair with the care and attention it needed.

I have had some traumatizing experiences with relaxers in the past. Needless to say, I was nervous going in, as I usually am before a relaxer. But Imani’s careful technique made all the difference. I had no burns. I was pretty shocked because, for the first time in a very long time, I had a genuinely positive experience getting a relaxer.

And the salon experience itself? Luxurious. I was offered a beverage, and the shampoo experience alone felt like a treat. Everything felt thoughtful and elevated.

Now, Silk Salon is not going to be the cheapest $ option around town, but if you’re looking for a salon that puts healthy hair FIRST while also delivering results and giving you a great salon experience, look no further. You truly get what you pay for, and in my experience, it was absolutely worth it.

I’m very happy with my results and will definitely continue having Imani do my relaxers. She was punctual, professional, knowledgeable, patient, and fun to talk to. I left feeling relieved and confident with my hair.
